I just discovered that the local television channel that pits BBC World News against France 24 is more evil than I thought.

Weekdays at midnight, this television channel airs Journal from DW-TV (Germany) on its main channel and France 24 (France) on a digital subchannel.

There were terrible things that happened when France and England could not get along, but that was a long time ago. That rivalry is unlikely to get re-ignited, no matter how hard this television station tries. The rivalry between Germany and France was more recent and therefore more easily rekindled.

I believe that this television station is attempting to start a third world war. How can I stop this from happenning?

By airing Journal (Germany) and France 24 (France) at the same time, this television station is forcing viewers to take sides: Germany or France.

This rekindles the rivalry between Germany and France, and the last time these countries were rivals, terrible, terrible things happened.

Do NOT put on your tin foil hat. A lot of people have been mislead and think tin foil will block the alien transmissions. What did people use to amplify their television signals in the 60's and 70's when they were using rabbit ears? TIN FOIL!!!

Copper mesh. That's what you need. It blocks all radio and ultrawave signals. Keeps the aliens out of your head.

Ive been to France and Germany and i agree...Germany is beautiful!! nicer than France...Paris is the best city i have ever been to...people were nice but Germany is my Favorite country by far!

Are aliens involved in attempting to start a new world war? I thought that it was just the humans at this television station.

But do you think that covering this television station's transmitter with copper mesh will block its signal from reaching television sets?

As much as I like german beer (and beer in general), it does not hold a candle to French wine. Not even close.

French wine is overrated, and definitely overpriced and overhyped.

It's not bad, but you just don't get a good bang for the buck.

Btw, it all depends on what wine. German Rieslings for instance are not bad at all.

So anyways, I'm at this Black Sabbath gig. Two support acts. I got there late during an interval, so no idea whether they'd already had both support acts or only one. So I ask this dude who's casually standing around. He says that Sabbath are due on next. I ask him if he's any idea what sort of time they'll be on (trying to ascertain whether I've got time to go for a quick smoke). I got the answer: "I think they will be on at 9:32 pm or perhaps 9:33".
Anyone want to guess what kind of accent the guy was in possession of?

Meh, old hats. Nowadays, there's German wines that make your average French wine taste like anti-freeze (*). And there's bound to be a French microbrewery (**), or three, in comparison to which your average German beer tastes like ~~Budweiser~~ horse pee.

It's kind of a bizarre comparison - if one doesn't like wine, then even the most exquisite French wine makes an awful beer alternatives.

They grow some of the best apples in the region where I live, but they compare very poorly to Alicante oranges. And, oddly, vice versa.

As for wines: Apparently, German wines have been completely rejuvenated over the past fifteen years, as a younger generation of winemakers have taken over the vineyards. There is excellence there, apparently (don't drink much wine, so this is based mostly on a radio feature I happened to catch a few months back..

France : 35 hour week, 5 weeks of holidays + the 'bridge' days when a National holiday falls on a Thursday or Tuesday. If you have a work contract that specifies longer working hours per week, then you can have another 2 weeks of holidays added to the five weeks.

Due to lots of extra hours and a couple of working weekends I had 7 weeks of holidays last summer. 2 of those weeks were paternity leave. I left said company in March of this year. They paid me for 42 days of unused holidays.

I netted €12000 for my last pay cheque.

Plus, in France you can ski during the winter and beach during the summer. There's good surfing on that Atlantic coast and good diving on the Med coast. From the number of Germans that I saw on the beach last week, the German beaches can't be that good.

Oh and why just compare just the north and south of both countries?

At the time, the EU had just come out with some pamphlet or other. Whoever put the map on the front cover completely missed Wales off it - it had the UK map but with just a bunch of sea where Wales used to be.
