Why hasn't the GOP, aside from Corker, offered any amendments to this bill? This seems right up their alley, but instead they just decided to vote "no" across party lines. We don't even know why they have voted no really, one can only assume...
It would be nice if they showed up and started making worthwhile contributions every once in a while...

It would be nice if they were PERMITTED to. "Healthcare reform" proved the ridiculousness of that hope.

How have they been prohibited to provide amendments to the bank reform bill that they are voting on?

The exact same way. In the words of Senator Shelby:
"This bill is 1,336 pages long. Forcing the Banking Committee to vote on this proposal in a single week is unrealistic and undercuts the potential for bipartisan agreement."

What is it with the Republicans and the whole "this bill is too long", "this bill is too short" line of arguing? How is it that Corker managed to participate with this bill while others have chosen to vote across party lines?
They have had all of this time to come up with their own bill too, you know.

Even DODD says:
Dodd said senators will have a chance to introduce amendments when the bill is considered by the Senate, but he argued that a long battle over 473 amendments that senators on the committee had sought to introduce would have driven Republicans and Democrats further apart, and made it more difficult to reach a consensus and obtain the filibuster-proof 60 votes necessary to pass the bill.
The "no" vote was simply against moving it forward out of committee without time to work with it.
