I heard that Obama's secret plan if he becomes president is to sell the U.S. out to the Iranians for....

Geez, if Florida goes Obama's way, he's got 274 (with California, Oregon and Washington pushing him over the edge later tonight) even if all the other uncalled states go to McCain. But that race is tight as anything.

Ohio is getting called for Obama all over the place. Fox, CNN, ABC.... If that holds, that puts him near 200 on everyone's lists, and California, Oregon, and Washington pushing him over 270 even without Florida.

I think Ohio puts him at 194. If Obama got Ohio, California, Oregon and Washington and McCain took all the rest of the contested states, McCain would win.

WTF? CNN is calling New Mexico for Obama even though he only has 1/3 of the vote in current returns. Am I missing something?

They're taking into account exit polls, even though they make not explicitly state it.

Some of those guys have New Mexico in the list, others don't. Add New Mexico and Obama is a lock. Alternatively, add Hawaii instead of New Mexico. In any case, in order for McCain to win, I think some projections will need to change.

Which is not out of the realm of possibility but I think at least CNN is being more conservative before they project a winner.

McCain appears to have lost by a landslide, and part of that is people's perception that he agrees with our horribly unpopular President too much.

Plus, there was this big Florida controversy, so it wasn't even clear who had won (until the courts decided not to recount the votes). In this election, McCain lost by a landslide (although we have to keep in mind that the number of electoral votes is no indication of the difference in popular vote).
BTW, I thought McCain's speech conceding the election was very good.

Who said it was bought with just advertising? Lots of hands were greased to win this one, but it's the same in every election. I can't fault Obama for that, it's the nature of the beast.

For those who are convinced that climate change is happening, it hasn't been called Global Warming for quite some time. It's become apparent to them that climate change will raise temperatures in some places while dropping them in others.

Obviously global warming and cooling both has its winners and losers. What the elites are doing is simply taxing what is happening naturally to enrich themselves. I don't need to say that.

Yeah, I think that has more to do with:
a report showed that the nation’s service sector contracted in October, falling at the fastest pace since records began in 1997
and
All eyes are on Friday’s employment report from the Labor Department, which economists expect will show that 200,000 jobs were lost last month. A separate report released on Wednesday by Automatic Data Processing, a private group, showed that private companies cut an estimated 157,000 jobs in October, the most in almost six years.
and
Layoffs spread from automakers, financial and housing-related companies to retailers and other services as the downturn deepened.
and
Several earnings reports also offered disappointing assessments of the economy. GMAC, the finance company partly owned by General Motors, said that it lost $2.52 billion in the third quarter and that its mortgage unit, ResCap, was struggling to survive. Time Warner reported a higher-than-expected profit for the third quarter, but lowered its outlook. Two bond insurers, MBIA and Ambac Financial, posted wider losses. MBIA lost $806.5 million after setting aside $961 million for guarantees on bonds. Its shares were down almost 19 percent. Ambac had a $2.43 billion loss and put aside $3.1 billion. Its shares dropped 35 percent.
In other words:
“We’re facing one of the worst global economic slowdowns we’ve ever seen; that’s not political.”

I would just like to point out that as our Bush friends said with Bush, now that Obama is our President it is our patriotic duty to support him. Criticizing him only emboldens the terrorists.
I hope everyone will watch themselves appropriately.

Not necessarily. There will be no filibuster proof majority in the Senate, and many people currently in Congress remember what happened the last time a Democratic-controlled White House and Congress tried to ram their agenda through... they got there arses handed to them two years later. I think many are going to want to preserve what they've got, so they won't be making many of the big mistakes made before. At least they won't be making the same mistakes again. Plenty of potential to make new ones though.
No, the truly controversial stuff is going to require bipartisanship to pass (even if only to avoid a filibuster), which means compromise, which means nobody gets everything they want.
Politics is still politics though, and much of what Obama said during his campaign may have been the same as George Bush, Sr's (aka Daddy Bush) assertion of, "Read my lips, no new taxes" during his campaign, and in the end had to compromise on that after being elected. It will be no different for Obama, I suspect.
I think your statement would have been more true had the Senate truly achieved the filibuster proof majority.
Still too early to tell, though.

It's the quintessential "good versus evil" dogma.
I'm good, my ideas are good, what I believe is good, the politicians I support are good, my party is good, etc. and anyone who disagrees with me, my ideas, what I believe in, or my choice of politicians or party is EVIL.
