In my Activity Window I noticed that "httpd" (Root) is using 2GB of Virtual Memory and I never noticed it before and I was wanting to know how to dump it or turn it off.
MacBook Pro, running 10.5.5 2 Gigs of RAM if that helps.....
Thanks

Turn off web sharing if it's on. httpd isn't on by default in OS X.

Virtual memory is um, virtual. It's not really using 2GB of physical memory. Real memory is what you should be concerned about.
However, if you aren't running a web server, follow Big Mac's advice.

In case you didn't know, web sharing is in System Preferences > Sharing > Web Sharing.

So it's part of Web Sharing this one is news to me thank you for the info. As for the Virtual Memory yeah it's all right to use the drive and all yet 2 GB I mean it was more than CS3, kernel_task and a few other thats why I was concerned.

Virtual memory is not the same as swap. It's not using 2GB on the hard drive either. Virtual memory is the total amount of address space that the process is allowed to use either via real memory or swap space. It is not the actually used amount. It is truly virtual.
