i want to host a small website on my dotmac account. I don't expect many people coming to the site, maybe less than 50 hits per day. Is it alright for dotmac? since i heard they would shut down your site for couple of hours after heavily hits!

Mine hasn't been stopped due to bandwidth since they switched to a pay site. Although, it is still down half the time due to problems.
I tried to sig-spam the forums.

I've hosted TONS of stuffs on my .Mac and haven't gotten any warning or shutdown. I bet the amounts of bandwidth I steal from my .Mac is easily 10X the limitation you have on iDisk before they turned to paying system.

I totally love my .Mac and am willing to spend $100 for it next year. 15mb email and 100mb iDisk are worth it.

www.v3.com

there you can get services free, e.g. pagina.de/, i.am/, etc.. have a look. as an example of how those look in practise = http://pagina.de/poquita.cosa (= can't see the fwd url thing)

also http://html.it webmaster you can get something as http://yoururl.too.it ... it looks e.g. like http://www.hotmail.too.it so you can see it's a fwd ..

My site is hosted on .Mac (using a domain name with frames to give it a real address).

I get approx. 50 - 180 hits per day al lyear round, never been shut down even when it was free.
