A marriage certificate would make Jon another legitimate claimant to the throne then?
Yes. It may matter who was born first. Dany is direct from the Mad King, but may have been born later than Jon, and after the Mad King died. I haven't read the books.
... and Bran seems to be the other essential part of that alliance.
I'm wondering if Bran is also Bran the Builder. There have been steady hints that he could sync into the past, and warnings that he might get stuck there if he did. If he were the one who built the wall, then he'd have to return to the present by living through the intervening years - vision quests seem to only go to the past. So, he might return to the present as the 3-eyed raven, hitching a ride on the long life of a tree. The old 3eR stated Bran was there to become him. Perhaps it was a literal answer?
Where is Brienne off to at the moment? I know she left Riverrun but is she still on Team Sansa? I guess she's headed back north to Winterfell.
Did she ever tell Sansa and/or Jon that she ran into Arya with The Hound?
Brienne is heavy on loyalty, so she and Pod are on the way back. Brienne did brief Sansa on her encounter with Arya in Ep 2 Home, right before Theon split.

He is ahead of Dany in the line of succession, if it can be proven that he is not a bastard. The order of succession is to go to the eldest son, then the sons of the eldest son, before you go to the second son etc. Also male preference, but Jon would also be ahead of Viserys.
GRRM has a couple of Freys discussing this at one point in the books, making it clear what the order of succession is.
There is also a chance of Sam discovering whatever it was that Rhaegar discovered. This is in The World of Ice & Fire, not even the main series books, but it is mentioned that Rhaegar discovered some prophesy, thought himself to be the Prince that was Promised, and started acting according to this - learning to fight, etc.

Time travel is freaky - but yes, it would make sense, and the Hodor scene could be said to hint to this setup.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
And will Aria head to Winterfell next? She has to have heard by now that her half/adopted brother and her sister conquered it back. And was Tyrion on her list? I thought only Cercei (and Joffrey, but hey, he's dead now) is left of the Lannisters on that list.
IIRC the list is now Cersei, The Mountain, Ilin Payne (Ned's executioner), Berric Dondarrion, Thoros of Mhyr and The Hound.
The rest are dead. The Hound might get a pass.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
Mellisandre is on that list too because Arya thinks she was going to kill Gendry for her magic. She is the reason Thoros and Dondarrion are on there (they gave Gendry up to her). Since Gendry didn't die at Mellisandre's hands, all three of those might be let off if Arya gets the story straight.
Dondarrion is dead in the books. The Mountain is undead which might be sufficient punishment (he doesn't seem to have a will of his own anymore, he only obeys Cersei and Qyburn). The Hound, as you say, will likely get a pass.
It really shortens down when you put it like that. She needs to go visit the Red Keep and vacate that oversized chair.

Oh, I know what's coming. It's the last two seasons after the books end that are new for me. I'm tempted to just skip to there, but want to see how they did it too.
Ok, season 3 complete... phew. Seems like it's going too fast, yet it's probably good they cut chapters like Catelyn's father's lingering illness, and combining other characters also helps simplify things. Without subtitles or introductions every second, it is a bit hard to tell all the angular white guys in armor apart. I wish they hadn't cut as much of the nights' watch vs whitewalker battle, that would have been a good one to see. Perhaps season 4 makes up for that!
someone needs to invent a cell phone, stat, to reduce the number of misunderstandings and crossed paths!
^^ We had ~20 people here watching during that episode, I can still remember the screams.

Season 4 was pretty good. Littlefinger, you devious devious man. Sansa just can't catch a break.
Season 5 starts to get muddled for me, as I try to remember what happened in the books vs what they changed. The Dorne bits seemed rushed and wasted. More Bran please.
I'm glad they changed the Watch's reason for betraying Jon, him leading troops to Winterfell in the books always seemed like a stupid thing. Series Jon is slightly smarter, but still. I hope he comes back from the dead as a reasonably smart zombie.
Speaking of which, are they saving ZombieCatelyn for something? Shouldn't we have seen her by now? I know they rerouted Brienne and Pod (thumbsup on that) so the fact that Brienne isn't dead or zombified I'm ok with... but Catelyn was a major cliffhanger in the books.
Randall Bolton needs to die in a fire.
Whitewalker king is all "go ahead, betray and kill each other over silly misunderstandings and sillier grabs for a meaningless throne. More fodder for my undead army."
Season 5 is pretty far off from the books in most things.
ZombieCat (Lady Stoneheart) is gone from the series. This has been stated - they're not picking up that thread at all. Of course it could be misdirection, but anyway, she hasn't showed up yet, and I don't expect her to
Without spoiling anything, I think you will enjoy Season 6. I know the Internet did.

There was at least one publicity photo released between seasons of zombie Cat. So some footage was shot. But when the season came out, that footage never appeared. Just looked for the pic, but wasn't able to find it on short notice.
Edit: I can't find the pic, it was posted before S4 aired. Either HBO pulled it, or it was someone's PS job.

I thought about ZombieHodor. Also, the WW resurrect horses to ride on, so a little worried that we'll have ZombieDireWolfSummer on our hands. These wolves can't catch a break.
Where was Ghost during the bastard battle? Back at the wall?
Felt sorry for rickon, hoped he'd have more of a story, but yeah, doomed. Agree with others upthread that Jon threw his careful battle plan out the window when he saw rickon, and played into bolton's hands. Agreed on the somewhat suicidal aspect of his being resurrected. He should have listened to Sansa about Bolton's mind games, but Sansa should have told him about the Vale troops, would have saved many lives. The last giant, sniff.
Bolton did not die with enough pain. I would not want to have Sansa do it though. Theon would have been appropriate.
The blackfish did not die on screen, so therefore is not dead. :lalalala:
I like The New Adventures of the Hound and his Axe.
Not sure why Jaqar let Arya live, but glad. I thought her not killing the actress might have been a test, to show she wasn't a mindless killing machine, but then the assassin after her negated that. Are followers of the ManyFaced God assassins for hire, with no thought to morality/justness? What was Jaqar doing in Kings Landing when he was captured for the watch? Hmm.
Walder Frey reveal-death aw yisss!
Cersei with no kids = f'ing scary.
Jon = Ned's sister's kid, makes total sense. I'd forgotten the bits in the books with the 3rd Targaryan... I think that's going to be a reveal. However, not many left who are alive...
They ran out of $$ for the Ghost + BotB action... I shit you not. They could have crowdfunded that, people would have paid to see it.
As for there not being many Targaryens:
It's rumored most of the Lannisters are Targs, the children of the mad king Aerys and Joanna. With Tyrion being the only real son of Tywin.

The quote is from Revelations, and if you take the "one hour" literally, it could point to a private premiere for S7 of the TV series that apparently happened yesterday. There are a couple of things wrong with that, though. First, the tag is "A Song of Ice and Fire", which refers to the books rather than the TV series (see the other posts with that tag). Second, comments are disabled. Usually GRRM watches the comments and shoots down any speculation before it gets out of hand, and he almost never disables comments. This might actually, possibly, be an announcement that TWoW is done.

From the HBO promotional pics, she has more than that.

^^ and it made a cameo in a book this episode, if you have keen eyes and saw it. Which means it's very, very old, and probably important (beyond its history on the show thus far).
Winter came for house Frey.
Giggity.

Good start, six episodes to go. Looks like no filler this season.
Fewer episodes, meaning they can spend more $$ on each one.

I think its called the Catspawn knife or something like that, but yes I spotted it in the book.

Ice dragons are, but it's unsure what side they would be on.

Finally was able to get my dad to watch GoT, and Ned quickly became his favorite character. Then, after the first season:
Without specifically giving anything away, I advised that maybe he should gain an appreciation for the younger Stark kids. So he's now hitched his horse to Jon and Arya (and Tyrion, obviously).

That was a very satisfying episode, and the sfx featurette about the big final scene was very interesting. They ar sparing no expense on these episodes.
to see the stark kids together, hoping littlefinger gets stabbed soon.
Glad to see dragon put to use as well... but I have a nitpick. If food is scarce, and grey worm's men are needing food, I would have spared the food wagons...
The Arya vs Brianne sparring was very good, Littlefinger should be terrified.
I think he's going to get to know his former dagger a little too well. Arya will gut him like a fish when/if she finds out everything.

Yeah I'm definitely pulling for that.
Especially after Bran non-listening to all his bullshit throws the "chaos is a ladder" line back at him, He's got to feel the walls closing in around him at this point.
Littlefinger is one of the most interesting characters. With Dany and Cersei you know they either end up on the throne or dead. People like Jamie, Bronn, Davos, Brienne and other warriors will either be on the winning side or likely die in battle, but Littlefinger, Varys and Tyrion are much harder to call. Part of me thinks Littlefinger will be the last bad guy. After the throne is won and the army of the dead beaten is when he will try to seize power from whoever is left, but no-one really likes him so he could die at any moment. Who does the brat of the Vale side with if Littlefinger dies sooner rather than later though? And Who will kill him? Aria, Sansa or Jon? Brienne? Someone else?
For all his scheming and ambition though, the one thing we might actually know about him for sure is that he really loved Catelyn Stark and that being the case, perhaps he is the Snape of the piece and would die to protect her children.
Its weird to see Bronn and Tyrion on opposite sides though you sense they will soon be reunited.
I keep wondering who will kill The Mountain. There aren't many who should stand a chance. Brienne or The Hound maybe. Aria would be the preferred choice obviously. Jon? Ser Jorah? Grey Worm? Second favourite choice must surely be Drogon?
Are we going to see Jon get up close with one of the other dragons this season?
I'm curious about the gods. It seems the Lord of Light is on the side of the living, what about the drowned god or the many-faced god? Do the walkers have a god or two on their side? I need to re-watch the episode with the origin of the Nights King.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....
I great rundown of the Arya > Brienne fight, as seen by an actual swordsman.

1. Drogon introducing himself to Jon. At first I believe Drogon was asserting himself, he was going to let Jon know that Daenerys was his and that Jon had better back off. But then, after a good sniff, he realized that Jon was one of "his people", a Targaryen, and changed his mind. It was about as subtle as a sledgehammer, but overall was a good scene.
2. The Magnificent Seven moment as Jon's crew sets off beyond the wall. It could be the most badass assemblage so far this series, they could take out a small army all by themselves.

I like how things seem to be faster moving this season. Less fluff. I do wonder how long it takes to travel from, say, Dragonstone to the Wall. Drogon and Jon, very good. At first I thought it was a different dragon, til they showed Danyrus on his back.
With only 7 episodes, due to rapidly escalating salaries, they needed to do something, I guess, and overall it doesn't bother me too much. The rapid travel does almost give me whiplash, though, and I'd love more exposition, but oh well.
