I am having Problems moving an Ibook HD to a PowerBook 5300. The Hard drive is 6 gigs, and after it is installed, and on boot up, the Mac shows a Sad Mac icon, with the error numbers relating to compatability issues. Apple in the past used to set certain information on the harddrive that were specific to a certain Mac. I don't know if that is the case, or how to resolve this problem.

Thanks for any ideas.

That's what I thought of as I was reading this.

Maybe you could boot from a Mac OS CD and do another install of the system software. Then move over any extensions or whatnot from the previous system folder.
