Hi, I need to convert SWF to a stand-alone application (that doesn't open in Safari, etc).
Can someone please tell me how?

You want to take a plugin and make an application out of it? That would be difficult. A plugin does not have any interface. The browser supplies the interface, so you would need to write some kind of interface to make use of the subroutine library, which is essentially what a plugin is.

If you have Macromedia Flash (the editor), can't you make it into a stand-alone Mac application?

I just tried with my full version, the SWF is protected so it won't let me convert it.

Since it seems the author protected it, there's probably little you can do. Have you tried it in one of the other browsers available to OSX. also if you have bootcamp/parallels then the plug-in should work there.
