Serbian statue of Steve Jobs previewed in Belgrade

On the date of what would have been Steve Jobs' 59th birthday, an abstract statue featuring a bust of the Apple co-founder and computer age icon was previewed through a scaled-down model that is bound for Cupertino for final approval. The finished obelisk, when completed, will stand 10 to 16.4 feet in height and be installed somewhere on Apple's Cupertino campus. The work was selected from more than 10,000 entries in a contest.
The preliminary design features a bust of Jobs' head at the top of the obelisk, with Cyrillic letters and the numbers 1 and 0 sprouting from the sides, reports AppleInsider. The scale sculpture will be sent to Apple for approval, and then the finished statue will be created by famed sculptor Dragan Radenovic.
A bronze statue of Jobs is already on display at the Graphisoft headquarters in Hungary, and Jobs was also honored after his death with a likeness in the famous Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Hong Kong (and another wax model in Quebec). The Serbian model is the most abstract of the various tributes, but strives to represent the enormous contribution Jobs fostered to the modern computer era through his work at Apple, NeXT and Pixar. Apple officials are said to have preferred its rough-hewn imperfections over the more computer-designed entries in the contest.

Not sure what the Cyrillic letters are supposed to do for a statue that is meant to be displayed at Apple HQ... but Fox News will probably pick up on that and call Jobs/Cook a smelly socialist.

Agree with Mindwaves. It's too abstract and really out there. A cool statue of young Steve Jobs holding the first Macintosh would be nice. Need a serious sculpturist to do that.

Wow, I must not understand art at all. That is hideously ugly, and does't capture much of anything about Steve Jobs. Oh, wait - there's a 1 and a 0. Yeah. The "language of computers." OK, I feel much better now . . .

People seem to struggle with birthdays, anniversaries, and the like when referring to the deceased. It's not
"what would have been his birthday." It's "his birthday." It will always be the anniversary of his birth, or "his birthday" for short. Ditto a wedding anniversary. My parents are long deceased, but their 84th wedding anniversary was last December.
