It would be really nice if they would have snuck a firmware update in there for the MacBook

But yeah, compared to my MacBook, it feels a bit slow.

Not quite 100 MB larger, but significantly larger nonetheless. I wonder what the differences are:

215 MB - Combo Intel
145 MB - Combo PPC

131 MB - Intel
64 MB - PPC

CLEARLY it's because Apple cares more for their Intel customers than it does for their PPC customers, so we Intel people are getting all the good stuff, while the PPC people are just getting an update that bumps the version number and is padded with random garbage!

It looks like the Intel version contains significant updates to the OpenGL framework, and the PPC version does not.

I have used this with success in the past:

The unofficial fix:

1. Close Safari.
2. Navigate to /Library/ApplicationSupport/SIMBL/PithHelmet.bundle.
3. Open bundle and go to Contents.
4. Open info.plist - You can use either Property List Editor or TextEdit.
5. Locate Bundle Identifier for com.apple.Safari.
6. Change BOTH MaxBundleVersion AND MinBundleVersion to (current version of Safari; usually the first three digits are sufficient)
7. Save and relaunch Safari.

Because of thunderstorms in my area, I'll postpone 10.4.7 until tomorrow, but like you, I too will be looking for a "solution" until PH is officially updated.

Sorry my "fix" was not. Perhaps some clever chap or chapette will rise to the occasion and clue us in.

LOVING IT!

This update has fixed the annoying font smoothing issues in Firefox! Fonts render exactly like they do in Safari now - nice and crisp!

Although this is what my About box looks like..

Anyone elses font changed?

Has anyone noticed that Rosetta apps seem to start a bit faster with this release? And that 'translated' is using less memory after you quit your Rosetta applications?

Perhaps it's just a Placebo effect, but I swear that Photoshop CS is starting up faster ...

Not sure what this is supposed to be, but icons still space way out when text size is set to 10, 13, or 16 point type.

Worked for me. Actually, I only changed MaxBundleVersion to 419- maybe that's your problem. Did you put in 2.0.4 or 419?

Has anyone else noticed that two-fingered scrolling in Safari is now completely unsmooth? Before, I made a point of showing someone how smooth the graphics were when scrolling a website in Safari, and now it's all jerky and gross.

Grabbing the scrollbar and scrolling that way is still smooth.

How much were you getting before?  15-35fps seems pretty good for integrated graphics.

If anything, OpenGL seems to be performing worse on my PBG4. Now granted, this is a very early PBG4, so OpenGL performance has never been exactly stellar, but things have definitely degraded somewhat.

Dead iMac CD here.

The installer crashed half way thru the update. I got a message that there was an error, and the install was to be aborted. After that, thing were...weird. Very unresponsive Finder, Dock, etc. Tried to reboot, but it never got any farther than the blue screen (of death).

After SEVERAL minutes, I manually rebooted. It wouldn't pass the grey screen. I let the Mac sit for about 30 min, hoping that something might 'click.' It never did.

I booted from the original CD, and ran Disk Utility. To my dismay, I noticed that the Start-Up disk utility listed 10.4.7 as the OS on my HD. This meant that I had a F'd up, half-ass install. I tried a few more boots, PRAM resets, and safe mode...no luck.

I'm now writing this from my PowerBook, cursing Apple's BS updates, and performing an archive install on my iMac. Thanks for the lovely evening Apple.

Yeah, that happens to a small percentage of upgraders with the incremental updates, at least with the most recent incremental updates. The solution is to do an Archive and Install or a restore from a backup.
