A friend just bought an iPod and he has only imported one CD into iTunes (PC). When he tries to browse by artist, it only lists the songs. When he tries to browse by album, it only lists the songs.
Is there something wrong with the iPod? Does Apple think that if there is only one artist or album that it should just show you the songs because there is only one so why offer a choice?
He did the usual resets, reformats, etc. and checked iTunes preferences for any possible setting selections and there is nothing.
I told him to import another CD and see what happens.
One more thing, if you eject the iPod, is there a way to remount it without disconnecting and reconnectng the cable? I told him I was not aware of any.

Have him import another CD.

Restarting the computer. Or logging out that user and logging back in.

A possible resolution would be to check to see if you have the most recent software updates for both the iPod and iTunes. Try uninstalling the version you have an re-installing it from Apple's site.
Like RailRoader said - try uploading another CD.

Why would you only want one CD on your iPod?

If you wanted an uncompressed music format and only had a 512 or 1 GB Shuffle.
EDIT: Does the Shuffle even play uncompressed music?

Two CDs and the problem goes away. Apparently, Apple doesn't think you should browse by artist if there is only one. I don't know what would have happened if the CD was by the same artist!
Either way, it works and my colleague is importing all his CDs and enjoying his iPod.
