Case in point: Hulu redesign. I have a 75" 4K television and you show me two lines of text at a time. What a waste.

Also, Music app on iPhone Plus/iPads. Again, huge screen and everything is jumbo-sized.

Default settings in Windows 10 make everything gigantic and high DPI. Win7/8 weren't like this.

What is going on here?

It's called responsive design...

Kidding aside: it is a reaction to the sometimes very detailed interfaces of the trend before, combined with a certain amount of copying Apple because is doing well at the moment. Like all trends, it will pass.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
