I hope iT 5 will introduce iTunes home server. To allow me to access my songs from anywhere in my house.

Regardless of which computer, when I play the song it updates my playcount. My sister can have her username and her own play count.

If the server is set up on my iMac and I'm on my powerbook I could have the choice of playing the song on my powerbook (as I do now) or playing it on my imac (so it can be pumped thru my airport express (the pb becomes the remote).

Other than the whole playcount thing, what's the difference? You can access your songs from anywhere in the house right now, as long as you have a router with multiple computers connected.

(Why can't your PB access Airport Express? It should be able to.)

The playcount thing is the main thing I want. I should have added song syncing so if I rip a cd from my powerbook it could be moved to the server so everyone in the house has access to it.

This is the big thing. To have just one music library on the server, which is shared amongst everyone and is updated regardless of which machine is doiing the updating.

You can do this now by setting up network file shares and symlinks (aliases) in just the right way - there was an article in a back issue of Macworld on how to do it. But it's really cumbersome.

It would be a perfect use of "bonjour"... jsut have a server running, and let bonjour find the music.
