Maybe the is the forum to solve this problem.
Simpletext would be a much handier all-purpose utility if it would handle more than its 32K or so text. Increasing application size has no effect.
Anybody know a resedit hack for increasing its capacity?
Thanks.

Just use an alternate text editor. Delete SimpleText from your computer. I recommend the excellent program, TexEdit.

I have an idea.
BRB.
In the meantime use BBEdit - it rocks.
EDIT: Dammit, no go.

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't find TexEdit via VersionTracker. Can you offer me a link? Thanks.

I wouldn't mind investing in one BBEdit for my main machine, but between family and work I've got SIX Macs -- and a hacked-over SimpleText (modified with the French color menu) I could put on all machines FREE

So... still curious about a hack for SimpleText.

you would have to tranplant either the 32k file limit in TextEdit services, or the code in simpletext which hooks it to TextEdit services

Neither would be very easy.

SimpleEdit looks and feels like SimpleText and it's free. Just try it.

BBEdit Lite 4.6 is free from www.barebones.com. It's very good.

32k >
I know there are alternatives, but I too have been searching for an answer to this one and It seems the word on the web is it just can't be done. Surely there must be a way. Even if I never use simpletext again I just gotta know..

I also recommend Tex-Edit Plus. You can get it here. It's really the best Mac text editor available, and it's constantly updated. Have fun....

Hope this helps,
Dan
