I will be getting a new 12" iBook or 12" PBook in a month or so. I was wondering if I used a Linkys(or non apple wireless router) that was hooked up to my familys window pc. It is also for my dads windos laptop. Would using a Apple express base station in my room extend the wireless area? Or will it not pick up the signal? And if I had a photo printer hooked up to the apple express in my room would they be able to print from it? Thanks any information would be appreciated.

Get an airport express, it's cheaper and will work just as well.

Yes for printing, as it would show up as a node on the network.
