Ever since I started using NeoOffice my Finder sometimes hangs for 4 seconds

Sometimes this will happen when NeoOffice 3.1.2 is open, and I'm using Firefox 5, and if I switch from Firefox to my Finder... I have to wait 4 seconds while my CPU blasts to 100% before I can select anything in my Finder. I've already cleared my Firefox profile and started fresh.
The problem seems to persist even after I quit NeoOffice.
This problem seems to happen only sometimes. Like, let's say that I'm using Firefox again, and want to switch back to the Finder. Sometimes, my Finder responds instantly, but other times, I get that 4-second blast.
I don't recall this problem happening before using NeoOffice.
What's going on?
Mac OS X 10.6.8
2.2 GHz i7
4 GB RAM (plenty)
>40 GB remaining hard drive space (plenty)

Why don't you try LibreOffice?

It sounds like a hard drive spinup. You should leave Activity Monitor open to see exactly what's using the CPU. Or put it on the Disk Activity tab to see if the delay ends when disk activity resumes.

I've tried LibreOffice, and been very disappointed. So many bugs. Blah.

[1] My hard drive doesn't "spin up."
[2] I've tried monitoring Activity Monitor, but haven't captured it yet.

In comparison to Neo, or just in general?

Isn't NeoOffice 3.1.2 technically only for 10.4.x and 10.5.x
I wouldn't be surprised if it just isn't being tested against 10.6.x anymore.
Also, have you checked memory usage in Activity Monitor? Perhaps the delay that you are experiencing is due to memory paging.
4GB is certainly an adequate amount, however I have seen NeoOffice use rather large amounts of ram and then fail to release it even after being quit.

Not in comparison to anything, it's just buggy.
Anyways, to Tee:
[1] Well that what version of NeoOffice should I be using?
[2] Also it seems that the problem has shifted over such that the CPU load is now spontaneous, 3 seconds, and happens only with Firefox 5.

NeoOffice 3.2 (patch 5) is the latest version.
It requires a $10 mandatory donation.
