Apple has begun putting up iOS 8 banners at Moscone West in San Francisco, the location of next week's Worldwide Developers Conference. A photo of one banner (below) was posted to Twitter by BusinessInsider's Jay Yarow. The content is cryptic however, showing only a slim "8" against an ocean backdrop.

Some features of the OS are already expected or known, however. It should for instance add an app called "Healthbook," designed to gather data from fitness trackers and other sources and display it in Passbook-style cards. It should also introduce a revamped Maps app, primarily restoring the public transit directions that went missing in iOS 6. For iPad owners the firmware may add split-screen multitasking, but that technology isn't expected to be shown at WWDC.

Cryptic? Huh. Wonder what a giant "8" might mean in terms of Apple software. Real head-scratcher there.
Just sayin'

I can't even see the number. The man and the ladders are blocking it.

@coffeetime: Really? You can't even figure it out by the visible part? Do you wear a hockey helmet every day all day long?

That's pretty rich coming from somebody who obviously doesn't understand irony.

Writers for MacNN probably work at the NSA and write for MacNN to make ends meet.

Looks more like you're inside a monkey cage.
