Due to what a stripped 777 would go for on the black market, I was told ~$150M, that theory doesn't seem so far-fetched.

Next to Madagascar (next to Africa and in Indian Ocean). Close to my 2 guesses. But of course, it could have crashed somewhere else and the debris floated there.
