Yahoo has updated the iOS client app for its Flickr photo-sharing service, giving it a more iOS 7-compatible "flat" look and navigation system that offers a noticeably more "Instagram-like" experience, where moving through photos is more free-form. The update now allows users to post up to 30 seconds' worth of HD video to the service, with live filters and adjustment tools available for both video and photos. Version 3.0 now sports certain kinds of object recognition beyond just faces, among other changes.

Flickr offers its users up to 1TB (yes, that's terabyte) of free photo and video storage at full resolution, and also displays shared photos from friends and strangers, allowing commenting in a social environment. The automatic sync feature that allows (with permission) all pictures taken with the camera or video to be uploaded automatically to Flickr now includes HD video. The app and membership in Flickr is free.

Photos+ adds viewing for Camera Uploads in Dropbox

Photos+, a $3 app that serves as a replacement for the default Apple Photos app in iOS, has added support for Dropbox photo viewing in its first new version under Silverpine Software's ownership, v1.1. The program offers detailed information about the photos and albums on a users' mobile device, and includes support for sharing with more services than the default Photos app, adding Flickr and now Dropbox to the usual iMessage, email, Facebook and Twitter options.

Unlike Dropbox's own new photo-viewing app Carousel, Photos+ includes full meta information about pictures viewed from a device's own photos or Dropbox, complete with EXIF and location data (including maps), camera settings, time and date and so on. It also correctly shows animated GIF files. The update is free to existing users, and included a number of bug fixes as well.
