What do you do when you are nervous (or angry but can't decide exactly why, and can't explode for being angry)?
What makes you feel better and less nervous?
I need to try something new...

Feeling nervous usually means feeling afraid, not angry. Nervous anger is probably better described as stress, anxiety, or just plain old feeling antsy. Anyway I excercise alot and I find it helps me deal with most of those things. I also have some less healthy ways of tuning out like drinking which I've limited to weekends now and smoking.

Learn to play the guitar. You will write many NuMetal hit songs when you are nervous and/or angry.

I'm frustrated because a lot of reasons. .. instability of job, the city / place I live, .. a _lot_ of small reasons that together become something not nice.
What I do? Stuck online. Bitch to the people on real life (well I don't but I'd like to).
Either I eat something super sugary (nothing to eat though) and go to be badly 'sugar drunk' and after that feel really bad - or I (normally) try to mediate it by not eating and waiting me to calm down. [That is, eating nothing or nearly nothing for weeks..] This latter works far better than the provious - but the problem is I can't eliminate the things making me nervous, so the situations making me nervous last weeks or months, so I think a better solution could do.
Other things I've tried and that seem to work are running and writing (mostly poems) - I'd exclude also those. Sex would probably do - but that's among the things I don't like online (?prefer offline), so I'd first need to figure how to solve a 6 hours time zone difference .. my cats make me also feel good but they are really far from me (over 1000 miles).
Adding to that ... my brain feels messy = I can't think correctly in ANY lnaguage now, and I'm angry to myself ... my mobile's 5 numbers / SIM cards are ALL lost now, I must have lost them somewhere in Bklyn = I have lost all the numbers and credit I had in them, and can't nor call or receive calls either ..
I'm not hitting my head to the keyboard because dark hair looks really nasty messed in ibooks keyboard.

Take it one small thing at a time. Pick one of the small things, and fix foreer. Then move on to the nest. I find I get frantic when little **** piles up, and then I ignore it all because I'm overwhelmed, and I hide in my keyboard/monitor. Turn the damn laptop off, and make a plan.

Pissed off ... I'll probably play the guitar, work on some of my tunes. Make some icons, even. Or I sometimes write.
When I'm nervous, I usually clank my teeth together. Not really grind them -- it's more like a playing drums with your teeth. Weird little twitch, I guess.

People with generalized anxiety would probably be prescribed a valium or xanax. The next best thing is alcohol. Have a drink or two (but no more).

Music has always been my savior. Throw on some good tunes, turn it up, close your eyes and kick back. My choice is usually some good heavy stuff. Always works for me. I'm certain music saved me from harm and harming others when I was growing up.
And yeah...I wouldn't recommend punching anything. One night last year, in a minor explosion of frustration, I took a good poke at my car's windshield. The payoff? A nice spiderweb crack in the windshield, a bruised and swollen knuckle, and no relief.

When I am nervous, my stomach disagrees with me = it refuses to collaborate [doesn't digest] if I eat. So I guess I react with my stomach (and lungs) .. too computer addicted to try to concentrate to read a book (besides the only ones close to me are of programming..)
Can't go running 3 am.
I drink only if I feel good (and am with nice company), not if I feel nervous - I'll feel only more nervous otherwise. (Nice, just remember the last time having had more than 2 drinks a night .. but was a nice party in Nyack )

When I'm mad, nervous or confused, I usually massage Silly Putty. Really helped a lot in my case. Be sure to choose your favorite color for Silly Putty
You can order some at www.sillyputty.com
I have EXTREMELY sensitive stomach. If I'm little nervous, my stomach is like butterflies on steroid. I have to avoid going to big places

I like the earlier post about cleaning/putting things in order. I always feel better after cleaning up. If my apartment isn't in very good shape, I'll clean that. Otherwise I'll orgaize the files that pile up on my Desktop. Or I'll organize/update/rate my mp3s, maybe download some.
Anything that will improve my situation in any way is a good way for me to deal with anger. Sleeping/eating/punching walls doesn't change anything for me. I have to somehow improve my situation. Otherwise I'll just get more stressed. If I can say, I made things a little bit better today, then I can cope.

Help someone else out. Just because.
Make a list of everything that is good in my life ... and be grateful.
Work out/exercise.
Challenge myself to learn something new.
Picture myself, in detail, successful and happy, and take positive (and lawful) steps to achieve my goals.
Do what I am able to do today to make things better, and let the rest go
Choose a better attitude.

I choke the closest person to me. Even strangers in the street (old ladies and children too)!
But really, I ask myself why I'm angry and the reason behind it, by the time I've deconstructed it, the anger seems pointless, and I feel better.

Funny how the forum titles stack up sometimes.
What do you do when you are nervous (or angry)?
War movie
Send a telegram to a dead person
That's one answer I suppose.

This is terrible advise. If you have a problem, just take drugs!??? Promise me you will not do this mullet-girl?
Meet the problem(s) head on by sitting in a quiet room (no music, laptops, or anything to read or eat) and think. Thats it.
If you really need to switch off for a couple of hours, I recommend cannabis. Its a pretty benign substance (lets not get into that) and the best 'switch off' I know.
I realise I just completely contradicted myself but, lifes full of them, which is why we're all anxious.
If it makes you feel any better, you've got a nice arse.

In the same vein as using sillyputty, I suggest buying a Yo Yo
And what is with all the suggestions to take drugs!?? The last thing you shouldn't be doing is %$#%ing up your brain.

When I was a teenager and still wanted to play in the Big Leagues, I would go out and hit baseballs into the net I had in my garage.
Hitting a small sphere 200 times can really get the anger out.
But one time, during a game, I lost my temper and kicked what I thought was just a plywood wall of a dugout... well, the bottom foot or so was cinder blocks - I broke my big toe.
OOPS...

Ice cream is good for a nervous stomach. No, it really is. The surgeon general said so.
Fresh air. Sunshine.
Sleep. I find I can't think well without sleep. Well, that explains my current condition.

Find a friend you trust and vent. I'm a big believer in bitching about things. It's something I picked up in the Army where you often find yourself buffeted by things and decisions completely out of your control. Bitching is an excellent coping mechanism. I think it is much healthier than smiling and pretending that things aren't frustrating while screaming inside. You'll go crazy or develop an alcohol problem bottling things up like that.
Physical exercise also helps. Personally, I run.

coffee + two apples = diuretic = dehydration
running = sweating = use of energy = dehydration
not eating/drinking + exercising = dehydration and exhaustion
Eat something good for you! If you get nauseaus at the thought, take some Pepto.

What do I do when I feel nervous or angry?
Check my blood sugar level; I'm diabetic. If it's high I can feel tense and short-tempered, and if it's low I can feel nervous.
If it's okay, then I deal with it as best I can without resorting to tears or alcohol - or both...

I like to go for a long solo drive out into the valley, accompanied by two or three excellent CDs.
And if that doesn't work, there's always masturbation ...
