This version has the feature to load multiple pages in multiple tabs like Camino. But it's cooler
You can actually see when a page is loaded.
Also it supports auto-complete in 2 ways.
One way it's uses address book (yes)
And the other way is as in v62 using history.
You can chose between them or use them both.
Also it's faster than the bugy and slow build v62

I hope they will release it soon

Just recieved this copy as well. I do like the little progress circle in the tabs to show you when the tab is completely loaded. I also like how when you CMD+Click on a link, it loads the page in a tab without automatically TAKING you to the tab (great for porn ) But I am still having that problem where certain web pages (no pattern I can establish yet) render itself with like a font size of 100 or so. I bet when they get all the bugs out of this version of Safari this will be the 1.0

Can't wait 'till they release the next beta so I can try it out!! Good to see Apple using the system wide address book once again. I love that the webpages I have listed for people automatially show up in Safari. I also love iChat's integration with it. I'm excited about tabs too...never used them since I always used IE. I did download v62 from limewire...just to mess with them for a sec...they seem great. I deleted it after though...figured I'd wait for apple to release it before using it full time.

On a side note...I wish they'd link iCal to Address Book...for birthdays. I use a program to do it now...but it should be part of iCal.

I had never experienced that problem until the other day (I'm using v.60) I can't remember what website it was. I wondered if it was a problem with Safari or the website...guess I know now. I didn't know that this problem existed at all except for my experience.

Yes! Me too, I have missed so many birthdays since switching from Paqlm Desktop that it's not funny.

What software did you use to get around this/?

do you still have to enable tabs via the debug menu or are tabs in the preferences now?

are you allowed to upload any screenshots?

Multiple pages in 1 tab? No, you can't do that.

However, you can "Open in Tabs" any multiple pages you have in a folder within in your Bookmark Toolbar favorites by pulling down the menu.

It is really nice. Love the "Open in Tabs" thing.

Faster than Camino, switches tabs faster, pulls menus faster, generally snappier (said without irony), love the google bar. I've been a big Chimera/Camino fan, but Safari is now my browser. (Camino is now very unstable on my system, can't figure out why and haven't been able to fix).

One little feature of Camino I really love and would love to see in Safari -- the "Send Link" button. Very handy, I probably use it 10 times a day to send articles and things to people.

If any of the Chimera developers are on the board, thank you so much for all that you have done -- and please keep at it. You have done a great job, and the competition is so important for the health of the platform.

wow.

pretty slick.
i like how they're just building like mad.
excellent.

and you're right!
chimera/camino, you guys are pushing everyone. don't give up and don't forget it!

i just switched to safari, but for a while there it was a toss-up, and safari only won because of it's better handling of long text boxes, which the camino kids aren't in control of anyway.

rock on.

Heh, the "Official" one has the download link in the first post, called "Safari v64 free download at 4OSX.com"

And as for stability, I find it more stable than v62 and v60.

We don't want you to register at 4 OS X just to get v64, either. We could use the database space for someone who cares.

Posting download links to prerelease copies of Safari is not appropriate. As always, you're free to talk about them, but we draw the line when it comes to assisting software piracy.

Safari is a freeware application, but the policy nevertheless applies to unreleased software. Apple will release it for public consumption when they want to release it.

Didn't know that was your policy. But in all respect, I don't see this as piracy. Safari is freeware and is licensed to be freely distributed. Not only that, but half of the application is developed under the GPL license.

I do not condone piracy in any way, and if I felt that sharing v64 with the community was piracy, I wouldn't have done it.

Actually, I'm using their download right now and it works just fine. Must say that I really like the tabbed windows. All in all it does seem to be a tad faster. I cannot wait for Safari to go final! I love this browser!

I just have to say open in tabs is awesome.

all links in a folder will open in tabs and load. For dial up modem users that is great
since you can read the first page while the others load.

heck even on my 200KBytes/32KBytes cable modem it rocks since i can open
all tabs for my favorites and my main 15 or so sites all start to load and the spinning
sprocket shows what are loading and what are done loading so i can read while the
rest load. Big time saver even for high speed connects.

Auto complete is pulling info from keychain now and it WORKS

Darn the scrolling bug is STILL there.

Long time listener, first time caller.

Well, under reservation, I downloaded it and used it for a few minutes. In that time I encountered a tab that wouldn't load, and a tab that loaded with the font size huge. I dig the tabs a lot though. I have since deleted it and gone back to v60. I can't wait for the next official release though. Nice work Apple, keep it up!

Is the ability to open bookmarks at once in multiple tabs hampered by the lack of multithreading, or have the developers improved on that? Concurrent downloading wouldn't really be very useful if it caused the UI to sputter.

If you're having trouble with v64 quitting on launch, then you may have PithHelmet installed in ~/Library/InputManagers/ . I had it installed and I tried everything to get v64 to work - D/L it 3 times, repair permissions, holding down shift while logging in to prevent login items from loading. Until I tried it as another user and it worked fine. Then on came the lightbulb, PithHelmet! Took that out and now it works fine. Using v64 right now for this post. Good luck!

Also if you are using something like demetalifizer, the background tab strip is now standard aqua instead of the brushed metal. That annoyed me before that if i turned off brushed metal, the back tab strip would still be brushed metal.

Some Safari bookmark/tab notes:

1) You should be able to option-click on a folder in the bookmarks window to open the enclosed links in tabs similar to the way you can do it from the bookmarks toolbar.

2) WHY DON'T BOOKMARK FOLDERS RETAIN THEIR STATE?! This is so annoying. If I open a folder (daughter folders, not the root ones) in the bookmarks window I want them to stay open when I come back to that root folder. The current implementation has them closing every time.
