GM is recognizing this Monday as a remembrance of Veteran's day. As a result, most of the factories and offices will be closed.

But, they are behind schedule bringing some products to market and the factory I work at is affected by that. So, they have asked me to work. They are only working 3 out of about 900 people.

Seeing as I already went to two different ceremonies on actual Veteran's day (11th month, 11th day, 11th hour...) I decided to work.

I will be getting about US$104.50 per hour.

I'm sure it is paltry by some standards on here, but it is very generous in my world.

I already have the extra income money budgeted. I will be buying my wife an extra special piece of jewelry in addition to what I already have planned on purchasing for her.

What's the most you've made per hour.

And if you're salary, what's the most you've made as a bonus. When I worked in a salary position for a small company the owner once gave me US$10k for some extra work I did on plans for Hill AF base. I paid for a year of education.

If I work it out it is around 350 per hour for about 3 hours of work a night but I don't get that kind of work as often as I would like and no I am not a whore but a opera singer at the start of my career.

Most I've made is $20 an hour teaching dance, which is quite good, considering I didn't pay for venue hire or electricity or music or equipment. My boss did make $80 that hour, though. Only $30 would have gone to expenses out of that, for her.

Never actually worked "full-time" for hourly wages (do not do contracts, etc)... so I don't think it'll be more than 8 an hour.

As a consultant, my company charges up to $260 for me / hour (yes, that is your tax dollars at work) - but I don't even see 1/2 that - hell, I don't even see a quarter of that.

Still nothing when you compare that to lawyers...

I remember my parents paying one $475 / hour to handle a "mechanics Lien" issue for them. Those bills were a riot to read, it listed phone calls the lawyer made for them. I forgot what the minimum unit of time they used.... I know we use quarter hour intervals when we bill.

And unfortunantly, since most of the "private industry" has been with start-ups... the "bonus" structures have been kinda lean (usually with stock options - which I was too stupid to take advantage of, or never panned out). I think a $2000 bonus was the most I've ever received (like 1100 after taxes?).

I've been salaried my entire post-College working life, so it's tough to say. But I did have a stint of "declared overtime" once when I was working on multiple projects at once. One of the projects, for some reason, had a contractual requirement that people working overtime on the project got time-and-a-half for all hours over 40 worked in a week, whether or not they were salaried! So, my department arranged it so that project was the last one that got billed every week, and I effectively got overtime pay for all the pre-declared overtime hours. It was the only time I was ever happy coming in to work on a Saturday!

I was only on 8 hours of declared overtime a week for 2 months, but probably put in more like 50-55 hours weekly through that stretch. So if you do the math, I was probably getting paid less per actual hour worked. But there have been other projects where I've had to do the same without any overtime pay, so I still remember that period fondly! Alas, the conditions that required the declared overtime have evaporated at my workplace, and I am guaranteed under the current policies never to get any overtime pay at all.

Also, we don't get Veterans' Day (or Columbus Day) off. But we still get Good Friday off. That never did make sense to me.

ca. 80 €. But that was only once in a while. Usually I get around 12 - 15 €, depending on what I do (student jobs…)

Once I did a freelance programming job for a company. They asked me for a new feature and I estimated 2 days work and wrote a quotation of 1400 Euro (that was exactly what they would take for consulting jobs). They accepted and I started. Then I had a smart idea and finished the job within 4 hours.

But on the other hand, I also wrote quotations for 7 days of work and had to spend 3 entire weeks. So I better do not calculate the mean.

Please, call me Railroader, for the benefit of the newbies.

I am union. However, my bosses make 10% more than I do. Including all overtime, shift preferences, and cost of living allowances.

And, I have 9 bosses. We are almost 1:1 bosses to workers.

Tutoring MBA students in their graduate Econ courses was an absolute boondoggle... I could bring down $50 a student, 3 students at a time, for about an hour of work. I almost felt bad doing it... almost. :-) I think their bosses paid for the course if they achieved a B or greater, which made it worthwhile for them.

As a grad student, I make $20/hour "on the books" though that assumes I only work 13 hours a week... a dubious proposition indeed.

Depending on how you figure it, my highest pay could have been either $20.44 or $30.65...It's complicated. Military pay is done by the month, and one is supposedly on duty 24/7/365, so a useful hourly breakdown is hard to do. The two numbers above are figured for either 30 days per month, or 20 workdays per month. It works out to an annual $58,885...That's after 23 years of service, by the way.

For the better part of the last year I averaged $48.25/hr and worked 12-15 hours a day, seven days a week.

Anybody can do it. All you hafta do is build houses and sell 'em.

Then you can spend the Winter in Tampa...which has more hotties per capita than anyplace in the world.

But now I know why my lawyer neighbor has a Mercedes at 26. 125K at year one? I think I was pulling in 35K right out of college.... and those hours... not as bad as I thought!!

You'll never understand no matter how many times you are told will you? GM makes more money the more I sit around. When I work, they are losing tens of thousands of dollars an hour. But you simply can't wrap your little head around that.

I don't want an iPod video anymore. Apple seriously dropped the ball by not including firewire. Lost a possible sale.
