I recently upgraded from a 12" ibook to a 12" powerbook.

Closing the powerbook is kind of strange, i can't close it by holding the corners of the screen. I acutally have to press right in the middle on top of the latch and the screen actually bends in the middle a bit when latched.

Is this normal? I also have a problem with the keyboard not being flat, the right side has a section that is "bubbled up" for lack of a better descrition, its not just one key either, its like 1/4 of the keyboard

The latch sounds normal. But you might want to let Apple look at the keyboard. The Powerbooks are known to have excellent keyboards.

My keyboard has also bubbled up at the right hand corner - it feels like a gap of a few mm has appeared, affecting the 'eject' key to the 'end' key.

The latch sounds normal. What happens is that a hook in the top lid is attracted to a magnet in the bottom lid, so you really have to get them together to catch. That's why you have to press in the middle. Same way on my parent's 15" AlBook and my brother's iBook G4.
