I posted this in the A/V forum but its a little slow there, so.....
I've been looking for a little while now for some good speakers for my powerbook. I have an airport express too. I would like to use these as quasi monitors too, so quality is important. I cant really afford "real" monitors though.
Trying to decide between the Sound sticks and the
Klipsch Ultra 2.0 Pro Speakers
I have an old subwoofer (yamaha beige thing) so I dont NEED the one with the sound sticks, unless I NEED THE ONE WITH THE SOUND STICKS!!!
Any suggestions outside of these two are welcome as well.
thanks!

I'd go for the sound sticks. But try Peripherals for more feedback....

Make sure the sound sticks will work with a powerbook. I remember something about the round apple speakers not working with a laptop. The JBL creature speakers are pretty good, but a little under powered.

i got the creature's, great sound for such small speakers. i want to upgrade but don't have the money right now. i think it shows something that the soundsticks are such great speakers after all this time.

Have you considered Creative's i-Trigue i-3350? I have them connected right here to my iBook, and they're wonderful far exceeded my expectations. (BTW, they're about $90 at Newegg.com.)

I've had Soundsticks on my PB 400 for four years now. They get my vote.

Soundsticks - I have the original USB version, but now they've gone with the standard 3.5mm jack I couldn't really fault them.
The 'cone' of sound is a little narrow, but as I'm always sat at the same position at my desk it's not an issue.
I haven't heard the Klipsch speakers so I can't compare, all I know is that I'm very happy with my 'sticks and they were well worth the price.

ooooooo, 11 to 9 in favor of the sound sticks. interesting. I love how they look no question. Might have to venture to an apple store soon to hear them again. I wish they had more choices on display (even all hooked to one computer)
thanks guys!

Klipsch sound better, HK Soundsticks look better... I suppose it depends on whether you prefer form or function. IMO, all desktop speakers suck. So, go with the ones that are cheap and offend you the least.

The Klipsch are cheaper and will sound better. I don't see the problem here
Unless, of course, the translucent look is that important.
