Auto Empty Trash.

Is it possible to empty the Trash automatically....that is .... say all items older than one month gets automatically deleted from the Trash Can ?

You could probably cook something up in automator.

Your best bet is probably to keep a to-delete folder on your desktop or in your dock that you empty out every so often. The trash can isn't really supposed to be a storage bin.

Yup, the trash bin is definately not a storage bin.......but there are times when you regret the files that you delete a day or two later.
But over a period of time it gets very inconvenient to delete a selection of files from the trash bin due to the number of files you accumilate in the trash bin.
I was wondering if there was a script or a program that deletes a particular set of files after a period of time from the trash since i definately know that Mac OSX is a very versatile OS and it is definately possible.

Found this little doozy on another forum so thought I'd share the love
tell application "Finder"
empty the trash
beep
end tell
That is the applescript code to run it you can just load up automator then add an action to your workflow called 'Run Applescript' then past that code into the editor window. Should work fine but I've only just started using automator and apple script yesterday so could be wrong

There's a program called Compost that runs about $8 that's a very comprehensive tool for managing your trash.
I tried it out, found it wasn't for me, but you should check it out.

Can now confirm that this works.
I am running a worklow and it was always running out of hard drive space because I was moving to the trash and not emptying. Added this action into the worklow and voila!

I have also successfully ran this script. I like it, now is there anyway to automatically run my workflow at a certain time of day?
