Today is going to be replete with deals. Since Walmart and Amazon aren't so nice as to have mostly all-day sales. Instead of being witty and talking about what something is, and what it isn't, we're going to do a bulleted list, with stop times as best as we can find them. Every so often, we'll check what's still available, pop in new deals, and bump this to to the top and label a time for an update so you've got an idea about relative freshness. And we're done here! This final frequent update is at 3:30 PM EDT, but we may still add as the day goes on, just with less fanfare.

First of all, all the Amazon deals require Amazon Prime. It's a pretty great deal, and includes video streaming, and the ability to check out one book a month from the Amazon catalog. Start there.

All deals are highly quantity constrained. Besides just our highlights, there will be many lightning deals that we may not be fast enough to spot, so be alert, and strike quickly!

Amazon has been a bit of a let down. Newegg is really going to get going at about 3PM EDT, so we're interested to see what happens there. As far as Amazon goes, the MX100 SSD and Kindle prices are very good.

Yeah, I can see Amazon cutting larger discounts on their own products. It kind of makes you wonder if they are unloading product before a major upgrade.

Amazon's sale was a garage/yard/junk sale. Nothing but paper towels, flip-flops, and some cheap, crappy electronics for the most part.

They certainly over-hyped the crap out of this sale, what with comparing it to Black Friday and all. Not a "true" deal to be found anywhere on their site.

There were a few good ones, some great gaming deals, but yeah. The stuff that was worth a damn was very, very limited quantity and sold out nearly instantly. The Newegg sale was WAY better.

Methinks it was simply a way for Amazon to clear undesirable and/or overstocked crap out of their warehouses, with (like you said) a few decent deals just to try and live up to the hype they created.

All-in-all, a disappointment, but as you said also, other sites had some pretty good deals (and I'm kicking myself for not hopping on Newegg's $160 Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD while I had the chance!).
