If he broke the law, does law enforcement need the leave of congress to investigate?

That's not his argument that's Chaffetz's. And it reeks of not wanting to look because you might not like what you find.

What's the difference?

I don't know if they're trying to evade the scandal, but they're certainly behaving exactly like people who do.

The difference between 'It's resolved itself' and 'we shouldn't investigate republicans?'

My bad. I didn't get the whole Paul quote.

I'm curious how Rand would justify his position. It's a bit out of character.

Christie spikes bill requiring N.J. prosecutors disclose seized property | NJ.com
The measure (S2267), which passed both houses of the state Legislature unanimously, was meant to provide transparency about the practice's prevalence in New Jersey, where prosecutors have for years used forfeiture funds to pad budgets and pay for training and equipment upgrades.

Claiming such public disclosure would unnecessarily "hamper ongoing law enforcement operations" and "jeopardize" public safety, the governor in a conditional veto message instead recommended changes creating a less robust reporting requirement.

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...location-data/
"Outdated laws shouldn't be an excuse for open season on tracking Americans, and owning a smartphone or fitness tracker shouldn’t give the government a blank check to track your movements," Sen. Ron Wyden, a Democrat of Oregon, said of the legislation he's co-sponsoring.

Consider cell-site tracking, even via stingrays that simulate cell sites. This type of spying has become an important surveillance tool in the aftermath of the US Supreme Court's 2012 ruling that the authorities need a warrant to place GPS trackers on vehicles.
Ron Wyden seems to be one of those guys who when he pops up in the news I always agree with. He's the guy who has proposed most of the net neutrality legislation in the past decade.

Flynn changed story to FBI, no charges expected - CNNPolitics.com
The FBI is not expected to pursue any charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn regarding a phone call with Russia's ambassador, barring new information that changes what they know, law enforcement officials told CNN Thursday.
Odd, I thought Hillary was the only person who wasn't accountable to the law.

In a call with reporters Tuesday morning, DHS officials confirmed they were working on a plan to send migrants who had entered the United States from Mexico back to Mexico, even if they were not citizens of that country.
I can't decide if this is clever or brutish.

I will bet 1,000,000 internet dollars when those racketeering laws were first passed, it was insisted there be no cause for alarm because the law will only be used to target the mob.

It's funny because when the uK passed its last round of anti terrorism laws that were only to be used to combat you know terrorism, the first person arrested was a pensioner heckling Tont Blair at a meeting and the second was another pensioner protesting the Iraq war outside parliament.

But I'm sure your government is more trustworthy.

Malaysian police: Nerve agent found on Kim Jong Un's brother
Malaysian police said Friday that the half brother of North Korea’s leader who was killed in a Kuala Lumpur airport more than a week ago had a nerve agent on his eye and his face.

I had a little visual of something occurring between two world leaders.

Were I to go into more detail, I'd deservedly receive an infraction.

What makes the flags such a glorious troll, if that is in fact what they were, is conservatives unironically waving Russian flags is totally ****ing plausible at this point.

Chief removes Punisher emblem, ‘Blue Lives Matter’ from police cars after reaction | Lexington Herald-Leader

“That design is basically to give back to the police officers,” said Logan, who has been with the department for 13 years. “Our lives matter just as much as anybody’s. ... I’m not racist or anything like that, I’m not trying to stir anything up like that. I consider it to be a ‘warrior logo.’ Just cause it has ‘Blue Lives Matter’ on the hood, all lives matter. That decal represents that we will take any means necessary to keep our community safe.”
Wonder if he feels the same way about BLM.

It was a small "press gaggle" in his office. Obama's press sec had >200 of these and didn't bother to invite most media outlets, either. Just the ones who were most friendly to his administration. This was Spicer's privilege, nothing to see here. Geez, the Left have lost their minds.

I'm confused by all the invocations of "fascism rule 6 is to control the media!"

Doesn't controlling the media take a bit more effort than "I'm not talking to you"?

Democracy has died because the White House cut off access to the person who professionally lies to us.
