I was just watching the Daily Show and they had some pretty crazy clips of WVers saying what they think about the Democratic candidates, and they came across as being dumber than a bag of rocks.

I know that WV gets a bad rap as far as its educational performance and lack of cultural awareness and all that, but is this over-exaggerated? Is this really a fair assessment of your average person from WV? Any stories to share?

If Borat taught me anything it is that you can find idiots in every state we have, all 47 or 48 or however many Obama said he visited.

Wasn't it like 20-25% of people who voted for Hillary in WV openly admitted she did so because she was white? Really guys? Just... wow. I don't think Hill should be playing up her victory so much there.

Heh. Yeah, interview enough people and get a good editor, and it will be hilarious.

P.S. You should check out the Rick Mercer Talking to Americans episodes.

YouTube - Ric Mercer Talking with Americans

Smart kid at the end though.

This one is funny too.

YouTube - Americans are NOT stupid - WITH SUBTITLES

I have to admit, the "U" question got me for a sec. I then first thought "Uganda".

Oh, and you'll find people like that EVERYWHERE.

I suppose we should be looking at the WV exit polls...

Anyway, my intention wasn't to make this thread political, but it is astonishing what people think, let alone feel like volunteering in front of a camera!

The number of white Democratic voters who said that race influenced their choice on Tuesday was among the highest recorded in voter surveys in the Clinton-Obama nomination fight. Two in 10 white West Virginia voters said that race was an important factor in their vote, and more than 8 in 10 of them backed Mrs. Clinton, according to surveys of voters leaving the polls.

That's a pretty significant portion of people who openly admit to voting for someone because they're the white choice.

And those are just the people who admit it.

I'd say 1/6th of the population is a significant statistic.

Significant compared to WHAT ?

As long as you don't have the % in other states, it's hard to say if it's significantly more.

Btw, 16% racists doesn't sound high to me. I'm sure Obama get's many more votes in the South for being black than hillary got for being white.
