I'm about to make a final offer for an iBook 500CD

This is the base model, apparently in very good conditions.

However, I can have the brand new 700mhz for 980$US

The guy would sell it to me for 820 $ with a bag...

I will offer him 700-760$ US...

what do you think??!?

I just saw on ebay a similar (even better) ibook bidding for 640$

Please let me know!!!

Personally I would go for the new 700mhz model. Faster, better video card, and a warranty.

Yup. I'm looking to sell my iBook/500/CD with 320MB RAM and AirPort and wasn't expecting to get much more than $600.

Until we get a 3 lbs sub-PowerBook, the 12-inch PowerBook will do.

I got the iBook, it's brand new, there no traces of keyboard on the screen, it has run for less than 20 hours...

Still on waranty!

I plan on adding an airport card, they've put some wireless stations on the campus at school!

Anyways, thanks guys.

I'm quite happy with this one, it's way faster than my g3 266 tower, and I have firewire! that means that I'll be able to use my father's firewire burner he's buying for christmas!!!

I'll try to make him buy a combo drive instead of just a burner!!! (It's actually a firewire/usb2 case and he will put that inside)

Congratulations, Bouba. The 500/CD is a great little economical laptop. Considering that it's still under warranty, you should definitely consider buying AppleCare for it. There are simply too many people who have experienced expensive backlight problems. (See this thread and others.)
