Why doesn't iMovie import the sound as well as video from MPG files? I can only get video so far.

My guess is that the files have been muxed, that is the audio and the audio are in one track. To figure out, load the movie in quicktime player and go to activate/desactivate tracks, you'll probably just see one.

If it is possible, I would like to know as well!

Using Quicktime Pro, convert the mpg into a DV stream, then import it into iMovie

That doesn't work, becaues QTPro removes the audio. Major flaw (intentional?) IMO.

The answer as mentioned by the previous poster is to demux.

You may have to convert the demuxed audio file in iTunes or whatever to MP3.
