The only thing the Bluetooth function works with on the iPhone at this point is Bluetooth headsets and in car hands free options. But not for music, only for voice communications.
Adding bluetooth keyboard support would be pretty neat. I don't see why it would hurt.

I just wanted to add my $0.02 that this would be fantastic. Our windows IT guy at work said "hey, can you use that new wireless keyboard with your iPhone" and I though, dang, that would be awesome. You could just throw it into a backpack. I hope apple opens up the bluetooth functionality, and I hope they allow this.

Hehe, I can see how that would be kind of cool, but I have to go with analogika - probably better to use a small laptop.

Probably. It's a shame, then, that Apple doesn't sell any.

Besides the cool whiz-bang factor of it all, what useful purpose would it serve? If you find yourself writing that much on the go, and you have the desk/lap space for a bluetooth keyboard and iPhone (and the means to carry it), then surely you must have space for a laptop.
Besides, you'd need to add bluetooth mouse support too, I guess, unless you want to reach out and poke at the screen every time you want to interact with the interface.

If the 13" MacBook is too 'big' for you, too bad for you.

The 12" PowerBook (which is my portable computer at the moment) is even too big for me (or more accurately, too thick and heavy).

I have a professor that asked me this the other day. He uses a bluetooth keyboard with his palm whatever and would only get an iphone if the bluetooth was opened up.
There is no reason not to have the ability to edit documents, transfer files and contacts via BT, etc.
