Interesting..but in order to use the quartz rendering, we need 10.1.5. So hopefully, like you said, its on the way soon. Also, we go from version 2.0 to 3.0 of messenger in a year when it took 2 just to go from 1.0 to 2.0? Interesting! And it has file transfer...now I just need to find the d/l link.

Ya, I think we have to wait till morn for that download link. The story seems a tad early!

I am disappointed that every app got the ability to customize the toolbar except for entourage, the one app that needs it the most.

By playing with the URL for the old 2.1 version of Messenger, I was able to download 3.0 early.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/msnmessenger/install/3.0/macos/en-us/macmsgs.bin

Edit: Seems that the file was removed. Oh well, it's sure to be back in a few hours.

yep

and image it could be higher: this is since i reinstalled my computer, 10.1.4 came out before this

but since 10.1.5 is coming out soon, and some people say there will be no more updates before 10.2, that one will run a long time, although: i hope so

I am gonna laugh at my brother btw today, install MSN 3.0, and from what I read it doesn't run on 9 any longer (also because the dock-controllable thing, will it be cocoa? )... (he has got 9 only) and he is a VERY intensive chatter and would like to have file transfer too...

Updated on my iBook (600 MHz, 10.1.4). The performance increase in Word is incredible. Scrolling is super-fast now! Inline graphics are also displayed faster, and they don't slow the scrolling down.

BTW, no serial number problems, and didn't crash any of the apps.

Worked great for me; however, I have a Volume License Office v. X disc that doesn't require individual serial numbers, therefore I had no worry to begin with.

Come on Apple with X.1.5, I want to see this Quartz rendering in action!

I can't believe it...I finally buy it at the Apple Store 2 weeks ago, and the update won't accept my serial number.

Can anyone confirm that if you create a NEW message in Entourage, it remembers where you last left the new message window.

I always hated that it defaulted to the top left corner and you could not center the window in the center of the screen (22" studio display)...

Top left is soooo far away...

Please let me know....

A lot of serials that were blocked seem to be from schools and the like, where it's very possible that someone could have got them, but it seems a _lot_ of numbers were blocked. OTOH, I remember there were people with bad CD keys read directly from brand-new CDs just when the GM was fresh, so maybe MS has osme sort of problem with generating them.

BTW, there is already a serial out there that works with 10.1. Much good all this did to stop pirating...

So what's the call?

Install or not? Does the install work always with good legal non-pirated numbers or do they have just as much trouble as the pirated ones?

Thanks!

Update works great for me. When I got the updater last November it came with an invalid SN. Had to call MS and they gave me a new one.

Powerpoint probably is the most affected by this update, at least visually. It comes on instantly and my slide shows now work much faster on my ibook 500.

Word scrolls faster but there is still a lag before it starts to move. It also comes on almost instantly after the first time you fire it up. (Not quite as fast as powerpoint, however.) The genie effect for the palette is faster. The font palette is instant on now displaying the fonts properly. Can't wait for 10.1.5 to see the new look of the text.
Entourage doesn't seem much different. That is fine by me anyway. When Jaguar comes out, I plan to move to Mail and the palm desktop. I can't believe that Entourage will get updated very swiftly to take advantage of the central repository with the new addressbook.

All in all, I would say MS did a good job with this.
