Most of the text-based dock icons you see are created from the .psd file included with The Kobhens icons set, which can be found here. You can apply the icons using Candybar or a similar application.

LOL, You'll have to take the reflection up with Steve Jobs and the Leopard GUI team, it's Leopard 10.5.5 on a Mac Pro.

Application of the icons is easy. Creating them may take a bit longer, depending on how many you are making.

Hi - I'm a bit of a customization newbie. So any geniuses out there?
Is there a specific application I should get to do customizing? I already have CandyBar. As a massive minimalist man, looking through screenshots always leads to me to one I'm drooling over. Specifically, Roberto Urso's dock. I'm looking to just get the dock the way it is in this screenshot, obviously with my own text for each necessary icon - is this pretty self explanatory to do?

Thanks in advance!

I guess I'll take this since the link is to a shot of mine. The dock in that screenshot is not one of Roberto Urso's, or more specifically a mod of his Kobhens icons. Basically, I created some simple tab .psd files in Photoshop and added the text for the dock icons. That's all it is. The transparent dock is achieved with an app called Mirage (it's over at the macthemes forums, make sure you read all of the posts about it to avoid any problems). That's really all there is to it. Ths indicator is the dock is a transparent .png with a small circle in the color I wanted. The icons ahve little "holes" in them and as the background is transparent, just make the indicator line up with the hole and you can see it. The icons were created in Photoshop and applied with Candybar.

Trying to get back that OS 9 look:
Organizing everything to have my control strip in the corner, my trash can in my desktop and a wallpaper to finish it... anyone with a better idea?

Manipulate how? You can toggle transparency/translucency on and off, but that's about it without creating a theme yourself.

It's been quite a while, but I haven't really been on my Macbook too much with graduation and all. Simple and sweet!

Affraid I don't really know how to put an image into one of those nice thumbnails like above, so I'll just drop a right here.
