$40, the 420HC model, not the more expensive 154cm model. Seems just about perfect so far. Nice size, fits in or on pocket. Blade and pliers.

Nice! Though I think I'll keep my Wave. If I wanted something more minimalistic I'd probably go with the Skeletool, just seems wrong to not even have a screwdriver.

Exactly; gotta have the screwdriver. Got some Cabela's money to spend; think I will pick up a few...of the Skeletools. Have gift cards and promo code for more money off.

As an anniversary gift my wife gave the Leatherman Core. Great tool for doing just about anything.

I just recently received a Core as a late b-day present to replace my 13-or-so year old (and fairly worn out) SuperTool. Liking it so far. A bit bulkier than the SuperTool, but more comfortable.

I'm not familiar with the freestyle technique for scoring men in leather.

That's what she said.

Heh.

The 1/8" flat head screwdriver tip is already starting to break off on the new Core...

Somehow I had forgotten about the 25 year warranty, so am sending both the Core and the old Super Tool back (hopefully I'll get a newer model Super Tool as my original has since been "retired.")

Anyone know what the average turnaround is on these things as far as warranty repair/replacement?

I just picked up four of the Leatherman 831078 (Freestyle with 154cm blade) for some of my groomsmen/ushers. I got them on Amazon from Leatherman for $31 each.

I usually just take them into the nearest REI and they'll simply hand me a new one. Other stores that stock them will probably do the same. (I think I'm on my fifth wave now, though the current one has lasted me nearly 10 years... Didn't treat them as well as I could have when I was in high school...)

Wow, talk about a complete lack of comprehension on my part.

This multi-tool features DLC coating for scratch and corrosion resistance as well as a 154CM stainless steel blade that will hold its edge three-times as long as a traditional stainless steel knife.
154CM: An American made premium grade stainless steel originally developed for tough industrial applications. Known for its best all-around qualities, it offers great corrosion resistance with good toughness and edge quality.

Got my multi-tools back today. The Core seems to have been repaired (as expected.) The old Super Tool was replaced (as expected), except with a Surge. Decent upgrade, IMO. I was kind of expecting a Super Tool 300 (list $84 - though I've never seen them listed as in stock anywhere), and instead got the $115 list Surge with a nylon pouch and file attachment.
