I am planning on using Screen Span Doctor to hook my new ibook 12" to either a Dell 20" 2005fpw or Apple Cinema Display 20". Is there any reason to pick one over the other? Thanks

Yes. Price. (I'd go with the Dell)

The 20 inch apple is $799
The Dell is $100 less at regular price -- and you can probably find some good online coupons to deduct another $50 or so.

Price is the big diff.
Apple pride is other diff.. but your wallet must be thick, too.

Apple Cinema WILL NOT work with your iBook as it requires a DVI video out.

irus is correct. Only the Dell will be able to physically connect to your iBook.

Thank you. I now know that. However is there any significant difference in the two displays as far as screen birghtness and such. Quality? Those of you running the Dell are you happy with it.

I know two people with the Dell one, you will be quite happy with it. (It also doubles as a TV).

Check this out:
http://dealmac.com/deals/Dell-Ultra-...464/97078.html
Dell Home offers the Dell UltraSharp 2001FP 20.1" LCD Monitor for $699. Coupon code "ZX99STV3H$7TSB" drops it to $464.30.
I got two dell 24" widescreens at $899 instead of the Apple 23" and couldn’t be happier. Now I'm saving for the 30" to smack in between the dells and I'm all set.
So I say go for the Dell. You'll love it.

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.
