No wonder they are giving away subscriptions. The newest issue has less than 57 pages of content in its 121 total pages. Why would anyone PAY to read advertisements?

And MacWorld's content itself is mostly useless and boring
I still read other magazines... yes the advertising content seems to be on the rise everywhere.

iCreate seems to be a pretty decent magazine though, although it costs a lot more than the others.

I got my first free copy yesterday...tons of adds...but it is a FREE subscription no complains here.
Although I would have prefer a Free subscription to MacAddict...I think their content is better.
Any knows of a Free subscription to MacAddict on the web?

I gave up on magazines a long time ago. With all magazines, but especially ones about technology, the information in the issue will be several weeks or months old by the time you it. However, I still have a subscription to MacWorld (although it was free). I just stack them up, and when I have to fly, I grab the newest 3 or 4 issues to take with me. Plus, sometimes MacWorld has cool covers

MacAddict is still a sweet magazine. The best Mac magazine by far.

The advertsing content is bad but MacWorld sucks in other ways; short, lack luster reviews, press releases as articles and the fact they'll devote half n issue to Quark Express but three pages to InDesign..c'mon.

This isn't a problem with MacWorld; however, more of an issue with Maxim where more content is a great thing...

That's what we need -- a Mac magazine with a centerfold that's not a computer
Speaking of which, has anyone seen the new Sync mag? It comes close.

It wasn't always this bad. For awhile it was still good after david pogue left, but still decent. But then the content went downhill, and more ads came in.
Now the review are little more than advertising.

Yeah but it seems as I read both magazines, MacAddict I subscribe to and MacWorld at the Library that they both have the same content and same "Big Thing" on the cover like the "150 Secrets in Panther", both had it the same month.

I found that Macworld UK is a far far superior magazine than the US version. Not only is it about three times thicker... there's less ads by volume and the magazine itself is larger than the standard 8.5 x 11" that you see in US magazines.
And every issue comes with two cd's.
I've found that every UK version of a magazine is far superior to the US version.. such as FHM and Maxim.
Check them out.

I think I dropped my subscription about two-three issues after Andy Ihnatko left the back cover. I was so disappointed the first time I flipped to the back of the magazine and saw ANOTHER ADVERTISEMENT. Even once I started getting them for free, I kept giving them away. I think they've finally stopped coming now. So upsetting.
I'm sure they introduced the digital version so they can eventually dump the print version. Then they'll roll MacCentral and Macworld into one domain, maybe (turning MacCentral into the "Macworld Blog") and nobody will come visit. What a waste... and I remember being excited about each issue. Hell, I remember being excited about MacCentral. It figures that Macworld ran it into the ground. You know, I remember being excited about Macworld Expo too, haha. Now it's mainly MacMinute, a reminder of what MacCentral used to be, and sometimes MacRumors.

This is why I spend $100 a year to get a Mac magazine from Germany airmailed here.
When Macworld merged with its primary competitor here -- MacUser -- it quickly slipped into being a self-absorbed trashy rag.

I dropped my subscription when MacWorld went on a Windows/PC happy spree. They did all these Mac/PC comparisons and recommending people buy PCs over a Mac... in a Mac magazine!
The one sided comparisons were rediculous. The one I remember the most was Mac OS X Server (the first release, with the "Classic" style GUI and very NeXTish desktop) vs. Windows NT. The Mac was a single 500MHz G4 with 256MB RAM, the PC was a dual 500MHz Xeon with 1GB of RAM. Yeah, real even comparison.

The German Mac magazines offer much more and better content than the US ones. There are two good magazines that I used to read while in Germany, MacWelt and MacUp. Me personally, I prefer MacWelt.

Those ads are the reason you and I are receiving a free magazine.
To be brutally honest, the lack of content usually lasts about one sitting in the "library". Then it sits in the magazine rack.
