If I run out of color in but the black is full can I still print. I am having trouble printing and it is telling me that I can't print.

Depending on the model of printer you have you may not be able to print if one cartridge is empty while the other is full.

Epson printers have very sensitive ink heads: if they run out of ink and they nozzles dry out, the print head is destroyed and you can no longer print. Thus, Epson tends to be more strict. You will just have to buy ink.

This is why I replaced both my old Epson and aging HP inkjets with a Canon. The printheads are field/user replaceable. I've had a lot of problems with Epson's print heads clogging and thus killing the printer, and similar problems with HP's "parking" space gumming up their cartridges' heads. This just hasn't happened with my Canon.

I just bought a Canon Pixma Pro 9500. Haven't unpacked it yet, but I closely checked reviews.

Had a lot of trouble with Epson-brand printers. Replaced it with a Canon also, and couldn't be happier.

With an Epson you need to print very often, or the nozzles will clog.
