Anyone on board with this yet? Is it ok for both desktop and laptop, and do you need to keep paying money once you buy the home/ student edition or are you done? Thanks.

Microsoft End User agreement traditionally lets a user install on both a desktop and a laptop. The logic being that you own both computers and can't be using both at the same time, or at least not likely to be using both at the same time.

Thanks A appreciate it.
Also, no monthly fees? Mac users just pay a one time charge? On Amazon reviews, one reviewer implied we do both, not sure....

And, Is seems you have a download or a key ID which costs a tad less; any recommendation?

Finally, it's not a bad idea to wait a few months to get the bugs out?

If you buy Office 2016, it should be a one time fee, which is different from Office 365, which does require a monthly fee. Of course, along with that monthly fee, you get OneDrive cloud storage and other features.
If you have alternatives you can work with until more people have fleshed out any problems, sure you can wait.

Thanks A, great, yeah, I'm fine with 2011. So we are blessed as we don't have to do subscriptions. I think windows users are forced to subscription but I'm not sure. I finally caved into Adobe subscription with Photoshop.

What about this Key thing they send vs download. Download cost just a few dollars more.

My company started using Office 365 for email etc. I downloaded it to my iMac and logged in with my email credentials and opened up some old word docs I had from my old PPC office X version. So far so good. It will be of benefit since the computers at work are windoze PCs. I can work on QC circle presentations at home again.

I personally went with Office 365. I get up to 5 copies of full blown Office Professional (which is useful when you have one kid in high school and another in college). Up to 5 users get 1TB of OneDrive space. (To make it simple: For the price of a single Dropbox account, I get 5, plus free 5 free office subscriptions). Not a bad deal in my mind.
