I cry uncle - I have tried my different passwords - both upper and lower case and even after I have changed owner password with four letters or 4 dots and a shutdown 8 dots reapear after the reboot. I believe I need to change owner idenity password - HOW do I do this?????? All this in File Sharing!!

First, you don't need to reboot to make the password change effective.

Second, the File Sharing password dialogue defaults to eight dots no matter how many characters your password is so that it is harder to guess what the actual password is.

That being said, have you just tried using the password you entered? I bet it works just fine.
