Webkit apps always seem to want to open .wmv files in quicktime. Is there a way to force all webkit apps to open .wmv files on the web to open in windowsmedia player?

I've tried setting extensions in the prefpane "RDCDefault Apps" to no avail. Any suggestions?

Try asking in the Developer forum.

Mime type setting is one thing I miss in Safari.

Does webkit open files using the same Finder links? For example, are your wmv files set to open in Quicktime? Try double-clicking one. If so, do get info and change it to WMP.

If you get Flip4Mac, it will open wmv in Quicktime. WMP is rubbish.

If I click on a .wmv file in the finder it will open windowsmediaplayer no problem...

It is only in Safari and other webkit apps that Qucktime tries to open wmv files...(and fails).

Very annoying because many news sites embed wmv files in pages in ways that makes it difficult to save them to disk...

If I have to I'll break down and try flip4mac but i don't like quicktime extensions in general as they always seem to add instability.

Flip4Mac works pretty well, even with WebKit.
