I was watching the Tonight Show tonight and I was wondering about something Jay said. He stated "Most teenagers don't considier oral sex, sex." Is oral sex really considered sex? If so, I guess I can kiss my v-card goodbye... I always considered myself a virgin still, but not to "older" people.

what do you all think?

I would say no. If you say to someone "I just had sex" what come to mind? Generally, people in the US don't think of oral as sex.

Isn't that a bit like saying a princess isn't a princess unless she wears a frilly pink dress like in The Princess Bride (since that's the image people get when you say "she looks like a princess")?

Isn't that what Princesses are for? Looking frilly until they get married off?

Not in Britain, at least. Like all British royalty, they are there to support a long-standing cultural staple — the tabloid industry.

Oh, and with regards to Mr. Blur above me: No, sex is not pleasure. That is, they are not equivalent. For instance, beating my coworkers at cards is a pleasure, but it is unfortunately not sex.

Didn't you english have to import royalty from Germany when you ran out of your own? So messed up. At least our royalty here in the States has a long standing tradition of hailing from Texas.

I ain't no Brit. You just don't read about other places' princesses as much (except for that one who was disowned for marrying a soldier only to get a divorce a couple of years later).

But heck, I don't think we should fault the English for importing foreign royal blood. Inbreeding is most definitely not the Amercan Way, at least not since the Confederacy lost.

Is oral SEX, sex?

I think so, hence the name.

Oral Sex is like having an iMac.
Intercourse (sex is having a Powermac G5.

Both great (both sex), but different forms.

Oral sex is not sexual intercourse. Sex is short for sexual intercourse, in most instances so in that sense no it is not intercourse. However is it still a sexual act, yes. So yes and no. I would not consider someone who engages in oral sex to still be a virgin.

By the way... if Oral sex is different then sex... THEN I'M A FREAKING MEGA VIRGIN!

sexual intercourse
n.
sexual contact between individuals involving penetration, esp. the insertion of a man's erect penis into a woman's vagina, typically culminating in orgasm and the ejaculation of semen.
(Oxford American English Dictionary, 2nd Edition)

You yourself argue that "sex" is short for "sexual intercourse", hence "oral sex" is short for "oral sexual intercourse", with "oral" qualifying the type of penetration that is occurring. If you're going to try and be a pedant when it comes to semantics...

Oral sex does not involve a vagina. Therefore, is gay sex, sex?

It's called "Oral" "SEX". for a reason.
It's not called "Oral-foreplay". There is a stimulus, and a reaction.
You aren't makeing a sandwich and not eating it...

It doesn't involve the vagina? I see, you are a taker, not a giver.

Miriam Webster Online:
Main Entry: sexual intercourse
Function: noun
1 : heterosexual intercourse involving penetration of the vagina by the penis : COITUS
2 : intercourse involving genital contact between individuals other than penetration of the vagina by the penis
In other words, it depends on whom you ask. I take the view that any cooperative behavior that involves one person physically stimulating another sexually is "sex." Whether it is foreplay or the "main course," it's sex.

I think that anyone who quibbles that oral sex isn't "real sex" has an agenda. See - - eric - -'s comment from 6:30.

Further, I do not see anything that is mutually exclusive between oral sex (of any type) and "passionate thrusting." I suppose it depends on your experience.

in my opinion:

would you want your wife to be the oral sex champion of your neighborhood? No, because it has the stigma that comes with vaginal sex. so therefore it is the same thing.

HOWEVER,
i consider vaginal sex to be a full loss of virginity. oral sex imo is like a 50% loss of virginity. you dont know the full ways of the woman unless you in her crevices.

Loss of virginity is technically directly linked to the woman's hymen... you can look that up yourselves, I'm not going to be the sex-ed teacher here.

Just, it is sex, ok. Sheesh. Thank you 'president' Clinton. Idiot.

Like every other silly semantic question, the answer depends on who you ask.

If you're wondering if getting oral sex implies losing your virginity, then no.

If you're concerned with where people draw the line... the younger people are, the more they tend to draw the line just short of true sexual intercourse. Hearing what people have to say is just going to be a study in how they were brought up, how old they are, etc. Not particularly surprising or interesting discussion to be had here.

So gay men are all virgins, then? And a guy and girl who only do anal, they're suddenly both still virgins as well? I think you need to rethink this a bit.

Every expert on the matter knows that is a piss-poor definition of virginity, since by that logic a sexually active lesbian may never loose () her virginity while a 7-year-old who rides horses may not be a virgin. And are men eternally virginal (since they can't break their hymen) or never virginal (since they ain't got one)?

I think it's pretty obvious that definition doesn't cut it, technically or otherwise, and most experts I've read have taken the same position.
