Iridium is a theme that whitens metal and applies a unified menu bar look to all applications (including Carbon applications). iTunes is skinned as well.

To install Iridium you will need Theme Changer:
http://themechanger.sourceforge.net/

You can download it at:

Sorry to ask, but what is the benefit of Theme Changer over Shapeshifter?

Themechanger = Free

"What's in the box?"

1. An application to change the core level system graphics of the GUI...including the ATM screen boot and log-in images.

2. A chance to to reinstall your OS because the dlta theme file was pooched, for the wrong OS version....etc.

3. A choice of around 5 themes....

4. No menu enhancements, app skins, etc.

Shapeshifter = $20.00

"What's in the box?"

1. An application to change the entire GUI, without changing any system files.

2. A chance to romp, play, shop, or relax because you won't need to reinstall your OS.

3. A choice of hundreds of themes.....

4. Menu enhancements, application skins, icon packs, wallpapers...etc.

People have emailed me to let me know that ShapeShifter will install DLTA files.

Personally, I don't think theming should happen at runtime. I think that is a waste of processor cycles. That is how ShapeShifter works. I prefer switching out images and resource files so the OS can simply render new images instead of SS trying to mask everything after the fact. Also, I want people to be able to apply my free theme, for free. But, that is only my opinion.

If a theme is not for your OS, ThemeChanger warns you. if you choose to go ahead anyway, it is your fault (not ThemeChanger's) for screwing up your OS.

I did try Theme Changer but wasn't sure how to make a backup of aqua or if that is done automatically. I did read the 'read me' .

I can't seem to get the Spotlight update to apply correctly. It looks it matched the color of the Menu bar, but didn't match the slight gradient along the bottom of the bar. Anyone else have this problem?

looks cool, but i dont really like the yellow menu bar though, but the windows are really nice.

maybe someone should make a theme like this:

1. general look- aqua

2. menu bar light blue.

3. - windows aqua but blue.

4. some nifty menus

5. transparency in some places???

With the current version (1.3.1), the unified toolbar looks flat. The gradient is not there like on the screenshot posted above...
Or is it just me?

I did see that, thanks, but I have to say I now prefer Theme Changer over Shapeshifter, and I don't think COTL will be developing for TC, will he?

Hi everyone! Sorry I have not posted in a while. v1.6 will go public in a few hours. I just want to make sure that it is bug free before I release it. The file now includes 3 themes: Iridium, Palladium, and Chromium.

Here is a link to a quick preview:
http://sagefire.org/images/iridium/animated-preview.gif

My server is taking a pounding with over 16.000 downloads already and over 5 GB of transfer this month so far. So, if anyone would like to mirror the file, I would really appreciate it.

What can I say except that your theme is f***ing brilliant! It's simply getting more beautiful all the time. I've said it before and I will say it again: this is how OSX should really look!! Thanks a million!

Iridium 1.6.2 is beautiful, and the release of iTunes 5 made it possible to completely unify all elements. I switch among themes whenever I need some variety, and I hope for more to come.

How do I re-install the original iTunes 5 files - I did make a back up btw. I do think the Iridium look is brilliant but I prefer the new iTunes look over the Iridium theme. Thanks!

Hrm... This is a nice theme. However, with the Panther version, there are strange horizontal streaks in some of the title bars. Don't know what would cause this, but they are there...

If you like, I can post a screen shot of what I am talking about.

Well, I have taken the time (albeit little) to create what I am calling "Tigridium." This is a combination of Tiger Aqua and Iridium. Really, all is Iridium accept the menu bar and highlights, those are Tiger... Hence Tigridium.

Anyway. If I get permissions, I can release this. However, I do not have the ability to port this to Tiger... So, That will have to happen after release.

Any chance of previews for these themes as they stand now? I went to the site, but no previews are available, including the link in your post. I'de love to check them out.
