Debating on wether I should upgrade my iphone 3G or not. Is the iPhone4 notably faster in speed than the iPhone 3Gs? My service provider is T-mobile. Thanks!

Yes, there will be a huge difference in speed. I presume you're going to trim down the SIM card to fit? There is now full baseband unlock for the iPhone 4 so you can use 3G.

iPhone 3GS: 600MHz Cortex A8, 256MB RAM
iPhone 4: 1000MHz Cortex A9, 512MB RAM
I'd say about 100% faster

The iPhone 4 also uses a Cortex A8-based cpu which is closely related to Samsung's Hummingbird cpu.

In any case, what matters is speed and the iPhone 4 has a significantly faster cpu than the iPhone 3Gs.

I just bought a 3Gs. Coming from a 3G, it's smokin' fast! 3G had 3.1.2 on it, 3Gs has 4.0.

Both were jailbroken and unlocked, I use my iPhone on T-mobile's prepaid service.

In a couple years when a buddy of mine upgrades his 4, I'll buy that one from him. For now, I'm very happy.

Interesting how the iPhone4 has leapfrogged the iPad in terms of RAM (but not clock speed). The next iPad should be interesting.

- MacBook Pro 16" i9 2.4Ghz 32GB / 1TB
- MacBook Pro 15" i7 2.9Ghz 16GB / 512GB
- iMac i5 3.2Ghz 1TB

The next iPad should be interesting because it may drop the Apple-designed A4 over an off-the-shelf Samsung CPU
