Hi there!
Could you all just post app ideas for some utility-type apps? I am looking for new ideas to code but want to focus on things that people really need.
Thanks!

I've heard a lot of requests for an OS X native disc defragmenter. As it stands, there isn't one available under $50. Too bad UNIX doesn't need one or else there'd already be hundreds of them.
Alex.

Here's a super simple one. Compile an OSX native version of ASFRecorder and build a nice little GUI for it. It would make recording Windows Media content from websites a snap.

Another idea would be to create a simple program for adding and removing WebDAV services in OSX. Just a GUI frontend to some of the UNIX steps required to make this work. An app like that is sure to be popular now and especially once iCal is released.

If you're ready to dive into rendezvouz, a shared drawing/chat whiteboard could be fun.
Some primitive shapes, lines, text tool, colors, paste in, printing to pdf, with everybody hands on simultaneously.

Or as proposed in the OS X Developer Forum, a native cocoa frontend to Mozillas web page builder. Like what Chimera does to Mozillas browser.
Edit: Link to mentioned thread.

How about trying to get in touch with the guy who has abandoned the excellent DesktopCalendar (last release 0.47a Sept 27 2001) and see if you can continue development of the most un-intrusive calendar app. (Or just create something very similar) Unfortunately this app has started to break under 10.2, I can no longer alter the colour of the text .

How about a System Preference Pane that could enable disable extensions like in Macos 9.
Recently I have experienced Some Conflicting extensions (wacom driver and logitec mousedriver) a nice GUI would be nice.
Or a preference pane to get a consolidated view on all the library folders?
It can be a messy affair to administrate preference panes, context menus screensavers, quicktime extensions on a multiuser system.
