Well after having it for 3 years, the time has come to retire Strongbad (what I named my iBook). It's been a good one, 700 Mhz G3 which didn't show its lack of horsepower until recently. It's gone through three different motherboards and two faulty batteries, and it even survived a fall from a 4 foot high table thanks to my dog. Well, I use the term survived loosely, as the latch no longer works so it doesn't stay shut anymore.

My new job requires me to be doing a lot more intensive audio editing than I had been, so I just placed an order for the 20" 1.8 Ghz G5 iMac that Apple has on sale! I'll still have Strongbad for touring, but most of my time will be spent on the new iMac. Now to just figure out a name...

All glory to the hypnotoad.

It survived the fall thanks to your dog or it fell thanks to your dog? (I have an image of Lassie jumping through the air valliantly to cushon the iBook's fall to the ground. )

Haha. No, the dog caused the fall. She jumped over the couch and the iBook was launched from its resting place, hitting the ground right on the corner. The impact put enough pressure on the little plastic latch in the base that it broke clean off. Apple wanted $180 just to open it up, so I've just dealt with it ever since.

All glory to the hypnotoad.

I was playing on that exact iMac yesterday at the Apple Store in San Diego (UTC area), and it was beautiful, snappy, and well, frankly, I'm jealous. Kudos to you man!
