Hi,
I am setting up my brothers ipod and having the following problems.

1) I updated the firmware to 1.1 and it installed. When i reopened i tunes it asked if i wanted to install firmware 1.1. I am confused.

2) Its taking forever to charge. The battery i con is green. But it still states do not disconnect? Its been over 3 hours.

3) When setting up an itunes account how do i get passed the section where it asks about using a credit card to buy music if i am going to use the gift card.

I appreciate the help because this has been a trying experience with the ipod.

I should mention this is 2g 4gb ipod nano.

1) How did you install the firmware update on the iPod?

2) "Do not disconnect" has nothing to do with battery charging. That simply means that the device is still mounted on the computer, and that just pulling out the plug may result in data loss. You need to eject your iPod, either from within iTunes or from the desktop (or using that stupid "safely remove device" button thing on the Taskbar system tray if you're on Windows).

3) Unless the store in your country has options for debit account payment or so (iTunes store does in Germany, for example, because most people here do not use credit cards), you cannot bypass that step.

AFAIK, payment details are prerequisite to an iTunes account.

That's the one annoyance of using iTunes to download cover art from the store.

Nothing is ever charged, though, if you don't buy.

A call to apple sorted the itunes store problem.I had tried to setup an account instead of clicking redeem giftcard.
