It was being discussed, rather pleasantly, in their forums.

Read this a while back, and I must say, again, that I like the author's writing style.

SO true, when I first saw someone carrying a powerbook out of the campus computer store in the new blackbox, I craved one too.

Nice article. Sums up my first MAC experience.
Maybe people who complain about the price or whatever of MAC`s should try working with one-that should easily convince them.
Apple cares. It builds computers for people. That`s the way it`s supposed to be-not the other way round like some company that starts with "M".

Yep, packaging of Apple products rule. I shed a tear when I had to cut out the UPC sections from my PB and iPod boxes hehe

Id rather pay money as a free person than as a slave laborer.

Is it bad that after first unpacking my 15" AlBook, and looking at my beautiful new laptop, that I *repacked* it and unpacked again, just to repeat the experience?
Is it bad that I occasionally open the box just to get a whiff of the foam? (it does *smell* so nice!)
Elvis (Saddened that I had to promise myself this would be my last major hardware purchase for 3 years -- and my next Out Of Box experience isn't due until 2006).

And another point -- is it bad that I refuse to hook the PB up to my 17" DVI LCD (a very nice Hitachi) because I won't be actually *touching* the machine?

My 15" super is my first "switch" and I almost shed a tear when I first opened it up....I couldnt belive how well the packaging was and the welcome I had when I powered it up....I will NEVER go to another Win based machine.
I love it so much, I wasent int he market for an MP3 player..But I think I might just buy an Ipod....

The 17" iMac was my first machine after finally deciding to switch over.
It's a special experience. I think because we spend so much time looking at the machine on the 'net via reader pictures, offical sites and reviews.
There's something special, it's like having a new member of the family.
As for the iPod, you've GOT to get one. I'm still using an original 5GB model and it's flawless. Use it for 2 hours every day and it's never let me down.

The first Apple hardware product i bought in a long time was my iPod this summer, and i was just blown away with how it was packaged. Everything about it was elegant and cool. But what really got me was when after i removed some of the stuff covering the pod, there was a piece of cardboard saying "Enjoy." over the iPod itself. I was just like "OMG."
I got a similar feeling unpacking my 15" albook, although it wasn't quite as nice as that first experience.

i'm a recent switcher as well. gotta say, the more i use this beauty (15" albook) the more i really love osx. it's so...smooth. in a mellow way. anyway, i would already have an ipod if they were more jpg and other file-friendly. i know belkin has the new media reader, but it's slow...and it's not apple. i'm holding out for the pod that does it all.
