hi - i've inherited a powercurve 120 - it's excellent - except it has what seems to be an intermittant ADB bug.
The mouse freezes on restart - sometimes the keyboard works - sometimes not.
i've tried 3 different kbd/ mouse combos - all to no avial.
the pram battery is shot - surely that's not the problem?

I've seen PRAM batteries cause any number of oddball problems. I'm not saying that for sure is your problem, but it's a great place to start.

Anytime I get a new old machine I replace the battery. They are almost always shot or close to shot. It is an inexpensive way to eliminate a possible problem. And yes, all Macs act differently with regard to a dieing pram battery.

Have you also swapped the ADB cable with a known working one? I once had the exact problem you are describing... turns out that the ADB cable had a short in it; thereby rendering the occasional works/not works scenario.

ADB could have been sapped. There are times when ADB is unplugged or plugged in when computer is on that this can happen not always yet it has happened.
