Bottom pic is how I verified 1.9-2 Oasis was similar to 1.8 (I think).

sek, if I tried for 1,000 years, I still wouldn't be able to figure out how you built that rail and inner-mountain system so quickly.

Blaze, nice lil brick house on your island. Cozy!

I haven't decided what to build or where, so I'm wandering. Oh, and I built a pumpkin farm. Haven't seen melon yet. I found red mushrooms then died.

Some pix from the past:

Why creative freedoms are not always a good thing:

My singleplayer world with all the tall cliffs. It was a random seed though so I can't point you toward it.

Wandering in the woods near our village... who did this?? or is this some magic hybrid tree?

Enderman likes our farm. Hiding behind farm animals makes him hard to hit. I got him though.

I am currently wandering around making a map in the south seas. I was making another map, got completely lost (not showing on the map), and a creeper got me. Goodbye stuffs. I decided not to let that get me down and set out again.

This area was nice.

Thought this rock formation looked like an animal... or an ATAT.

I was wondering how long it would be before someone discovered it.

Ew. Next time bring enough dirt to build temporary night shelters. It should save you.

ATAT. That's all I see. No doubt.

In my hardcore world I walk 3/4 of a day then use the cobble i brought to build a 5x5x17 tower with a basement room for the bed. That's high enough that mobs on the ground cant see you.

There's a Terraria-type game now on iOS called Junk Jack (link to iTunes). I tried it yesterday and it's pretty fun, though it doesn't have a tutorial so I have no idea what I'm doing yet.

Since a lot of iOS games are getting ported to the Mac, I expect we'll see a version soon.

EDIT: just found out there's a 2D Minecraft iOS clone called Crafted, which looks too much like Minecraft, IMHO. Incidentally, while Junk Jack looks more like Terraria, it seems to play more like Minecraft, lacking the combat focus and many monsters of Terraria.

1.9p6 is out. Have to at least give people a chance to deal with the wooden doors not opening manually bug before the server upgrades.

no problemo.

Today set my kid up with my old mac and his own minecraft login. First thing he does in creative is build a house of TNT and make some creepers blow it up.

I am enjoying my little ravine at the top of the map, I may actually build a house worth looking at. I'm sick of navigating oceans off the map! It's not the most dramatic (no lava waterfall) but tons of coal and iron. Today I wandered down deep and found some scary places with glimmers of gold, will explore more later.

Okay both outer doors are done, but locked open for the time being. I need to think about the setup for triggering the exit. I'm thinking a boat hopper of some sort. Sorry for the lack of pictures, my NAS crashed and I haven't looked into rebuilding the boot volume (its a USB stick.) which reminds me I may be able to use the old one...

I will have to go check it out. I'm annoyed with both my door and the behavior of iron bars near doors. They looked much better in creative.

Anyone have issue with me updating to RC2? I won't be surprised if the redstone changes break my door. There not very impressive when they're locked open unless you swim around and climb inside to look at the works.

Andi - I can come help you with the redstone, not sure if you'd want a consultant or a tutor.

http://mordritch.com/mc_rss/ is helpful but I don't think its updated for RC2 so I wouldn't trust it for anything were the redstone is compact.

"Infinite lava pools were a bug, that was already corrected in 1.9 pre6"

ok by me.

Blaze, consultant is good, it's not that complex a door but all the tutorials I've found are for either more complex or don't hide the wiring. A piston door looks like fun but not for this house.

edit: aha, I found a tutorial by some nice preteen who explained inverting. Door is sorted. Now explain to me notch, why iron bars aren't the same in creative as they are in survival:

It wouldn't be as simple as smooth-stone brick vs dirt.

I rebooted the server, no specific error messages though, the server is still on rc2 though 1.0 is supposedly out. It always promts me to update even though 1.9 > 1.8

Finally finished my explorations, and see that while I've been charting, everyone has been very busy!

Here's the map, up is north, but I haven't seen any snow. The desert is more north and east of the "ruin." The bottom right corner of the map had some impressive stone formations and waterways.

After seeing the cool things you all built, I'm inspired to upgrade my humble ruin:

Sek's lava mountain, complete with portal, railway(!), and mysterious tower:

Jawbone's excellent castle (love the meandering hallways)

the login process is very flaky, apparently its a check they added to prevent client spoofing but it's wrong somehow. I keep restarting the server periodically it only helps a little though.

I think my network issues dumped jawbone.

My servers back so I have pictures, though I'm holding back pictures of the dome till its done. I'll get the old world packed up for download soon.

RIP Henreitta

Wolf proof house

An old pic but it shows the button on the right. I've got photos of the wiring when it was mostly exposed but I doubt there's interest.

I noticed a abandoned mine under Andis new house. See the cobweb at the bow of the boat?

This is a cave I found on my creative map, I added the lava for lights. There's one almost as big at the far end of the ravine at the village.

Yes, it did. S'okay. I farted around in SSP for a while.

I have no idea how Blaze work's on such a large scale. I've been wasting time doing several other things, but my castle is still only about 33% complete.

I've got to mines one at y=45 and and another at y=14. The one at 14 already covers 14k m^2. I finally gave up and built a smooth stone generator. I need to build two more so I don't have to pause while mining.

It's not that there's no interest in the wiring, it's just lack of comprehension.

How did you figure out the smooth stone generator? I gave it up as non productive and an incentive to mine more.

Good spot on that cobweb... all the time I spent wandering the ocean I never saw a thing. Finally a use for all my lighted pumpkins, exploring that underwater mine!

I gave up on using a block detector and just have a piston running on a repeater loop clock. The lava is above the block the piston pushes and the water is 2 spaces to the side. When the piston pulls back the water flows quicker then the lava and when the lava does flow it makes smooth stone.

Sort of like this but not a pretty

You should be able to dig out there from underneath. You had already placed a torch on the shoreline in line with it. The caves under your place probably connect to it as well. It would be epic for you to find the first cave spider spawner. They're poisonous but diamond grinder FTW. There are some mines in the chasm under my place but I've only partly secured the chasm itself.

I went swimming today looking at least for a location reference to aim at digging underground, and couldn't spot that spiderweb! I'll try again, looks like I was too east.

why, hello there:

That light spot in the middle is the bottom of the ocean, and how blaze spotted it from above.

From the monster spawner page on minecraftwiki.net:

It is possible, although very rare, for a monster spawner to occur near the surface and completely buried in sand, with monsters spawning in small gaps underneath sandstone.
I believe I found just that, quite a bit south of the mountain range a few blocks into a huge desert. I didn't take any photos, and I've already harvested the mossy cobble, but the spawner is in plain view. I stumbled across it by accident -- a segment of sand dune collapsed while I was harvesting sand for glass, revealing a zombie wedged into a very small space.

Well, the challenge of finding them is lessened when you're scouting by flying around one maps worth of area. But one of the seeds was a lot of desert, cranking the odds way up.

Yesterday as I was spelunking around a really deep cave I heard a zombie, so I started digging towards him only to find it in a 3x3x3 room with no entrances or exits.
