I just picked up the new 23" Cinema Display.. wow!!

I also have a 17" PB - how do I use the dispaly as the sole monitor. I can mirror between the two, I can have the cinema display act as an "extension: of my powerbook screen but I just want to close the powerbook lid and then use the cinema display..

In a previous configuation, I swear I would shut th epowerbook lid, hiut the spacebar on the external keyboard and it would work?

whats up??

thanks in advance!

That should work. Try unplugging and replugging the keyboard after closing the lid -- changes to the USB configuration are supposed to wake the machine.

Oh, and mind you that AC power must be present for closed-lid operation. It will not wake if it's running off battery.

Wow, thanks alot. I love the setup. May I ask where and what kind of desk that is? I love it, and basically fits my room perfectly! That would be such a great desk to go w/ my own setup... all I need now is one of those kick ass displays! Thanks alot for the info on the desk!~

Until we get a 3 lbs sub-PowerBook, the 12-inch PowerBook will do.

I was amazed at how much smaller the new displays look. The Apple Store here in Dallas had an old and new 20 size by side. I thought the old 20 was really a 23, but taking a closer look all the extra size was just in plastic.

what is the purpose of the fw and high speed usb on the back if you have to plug it in to use it. Is it just mainly for convience cuase you don't gain 2ports. you just cancle each other out and not lose or gain.

1. They are convenient.
2. You DO gain ports: it uses one USB and one FW port on the computer, but gives you two USB and two FW ports on the display.

P.S. For the love of god, yoyoman, could you please use a spellchecker AND proper punctuation? For example, questions are denoted by a question mark "?" while statements are marked with a period "." or exclamation point "!".
